No wonder they were in California and closed down. When it says she's open, she's always closed. Has her young children there so you can imagine dirty hands touching everything and anything before you even get to it. Her childrens toys scattered from her children playing instead of working or having someone watch her children. When I am able to finally get in at a time she is open, the Cuban sandwich is always sold out. Always replies with "she'll have it on Tuesday if you come before it's sold out." She says its famous but NOWHERE does it say that, pretty mediocre if I was to say so. Never consistent with how much she puts on the sandwich either or portions for deserts. Have gotten preordered tres de leche, creme Brule, flan, and more and cannot say it is anything you cant live without. She has made every time the creme brule over cooked (clumpy) or undercooked so it was a soup, never burns the sugar on top, and always forgets to give a container of sugar unless you ask for it. Most recently she refused to show sizing for deserts just described it and always has different packaging for the exact same thing I order once a month as a nice treat (Tiramisu). She even described the family size as 9 x 16 and gave me a 9x9! Being my fiances birthday I had no choice but to take WHAT I ALREADY PREPAID FOR SINCE SHE REFUSED A REFUND. Highly don't recommend you're better off elsewhere where consistency is key and you get what you expected or more each time, instead of less and less. Even better when I placed an order a week in advance, she replied "any other orders I should make for you while I am at it". Over priced for OK quality when you can get it. It's as bad as going out to eat and being asked before the service for a tip, or picking up your meal and they ask for a tip! Your tip is that I came in and got my food and now you don't have to clean up besides what you used to cook to make your money. Edit to add, she says everything is measured but I have gotten the sandwich with 3 small strands of meat, and another time where she packed it as if she was giving the rest of the meat before it goes bad. I could find the photos to prove it, but this place isn't worth wasting my time to prove her responses are nothing but what you...
Read moreI want to love this place because it is a locally owned small business. Their baked treats look delicious. Their menu is full of amazing sounding authentic Hispanic/Puerto Rican dishes. This town needs more diversity and I hope they can stick around.
I believe my service issues were due to a language barrier. I will give them another try in the future and update my rating as necessary.
My friend and I both ordered their big breakfast combo with coffee (she asked for a hot coffee with cream and I asked for an iced macchiato with caramel.) The server forgot to ask if we wanted pancakes or french toast with our orders (easy enough mistake, no issue as they did come back and ask). When our coffee was brought out both looked identical and were hot coffee. I cannot have steamed milk, which is the only reason I said something. Second time it came out again hot with foam on top. I just let it go at that point. Both of us asked for ice water with lemon. One ice water, no lemon, made it to the table. The part that really makes me question my decision to try this place another time is the fact that there was hair in my eggs. Cooked into and intertwined in the cheese and eggs (see picture and zoom in. No way it was from my friend or myself as it was a black curly hair, which neither of us have.)
It's worth noting; the owner did ask if everything was fine upon paying and I didn't speak up at that time.
Here's hoping the next visit will be...
Read moreTried the cannoli had to spit it out it was soft and the taste was so bad it tasted like mildew. I can't explain the taste, just really bad and still taste it. The muffins smelled like mildew and won't try them. The oreo cookies tasted like mildew too. I can't believe how horrible this is. Even my kids felt nauseous after trying it. My mom went there and picked these up to try with us. To be honest she was soooo excited because of a new bakery. I called before making this review because I do not want the place to have bad reviews I rather confront the owner. She told me to come in and she will refund. Walked in and the smell of the place was horrific exactly like how the food tasted. She tasted the food I brought back and says that's how marscapone tastes. I told her the store smells really bad like mildew and mold. She told me no and that she fresh baked everything except the cannolis and will only give me money back for the cannolis cause they were older. I still am shocked she doesn't taste the disgust in the food and the smell of the store is really bad. I understand it's hot out but no way should that place smell like it does. The plus side is the owner is AMAZINGLY SWEET and VERY NICE. Just can't understand why she didn't give a refund and how she can't taste or smell that place. Posted pictures so you know I did bring them back even with...
