Always a great place to visit, excellent views, didn't realize it was considered a park, used to visit this place very often when I was homeless in this town, before escaping from an abusive relationship with my dog and our lives. I just knew it was only a matter of time before he killed her or myself, very dark time on my life, glad it's over. But would like to thank the woman driving by, and offered assistance right after an attack from my ex, it was greatly appreciated, even though I was arrested later that evening, because the officer believed my ex's story over mine. But after being transported to Astoria at 2am the judge dropped the charges due to lack of evidence and I was released, but had no one to call for a ride back to my dog. Even the woman that was for the battered spousal place, that told me not to worry she would help me no matter what, turned me away. So I had to walk 15-20miles back to her was afraid for her life. Sorry TMI, it's just that I have no short term memory and when it releases info, if I don't write it out, it's subject to disappear for life. Most of what happened to us no one should ever have to see, and I'm really surprised I'm still alive. Several times I wished I'd died way back then. Then I wouldn't remember anything or deal with...

I took a peaceful walk along the trails and was amazed by the variety of birds I saw—great blue herons stalking the shallows, an osprey, little sand piper looking killdeer, swallow, sparrow, cedar wax wing, king fisher, crows, and possibly a bald eagle perched high in a spruce tree.
The boardwalks and viewing areas made it easy to get close to the marshlands without disturbing the wildlife. I spotted a few egrets, plenty of gulls, and a chorus of red-winged blackbirds singing from the reeds. The interpretive signs were a nice touch too—helpful and informative without being overwhelming.
If you're into birdwatching or just want a peaceful place to connect with nature, I highly recommend making a stop here. Bring binoculars and take your time. It’s not a big park, but it’s full of life and coastal charm.

Read moreThough I loved all of Seaside, this area was filled with the most magnificent natural beauty. There were at least 3 different types of birds flying around, including a group of Brown Pelicans. We actually got to see them (brown pelicans) dive and catch food several times. It was amazing. There was another flock of diving birds, but I couldn't actually tell what there were, however there was so many of them flying around. The formation they were flying in looked like a tornado of birds, though they were going in both directions. There is a elevated platform you can observe from, as well as stars(no rails) that led the edge of the river/bay. We saw a couple kayaking and that's were they brought them up. In town there is a place to rent kayaks and other things like paddle boats, and all sorts of wheeled rentals. If you come to Seaside you MUST VISIT...
