5 Shades of Fades — Attraction in Seattle

I chose this location based on previous reviews. Yesterday was my 1st visit of many more to come. This place is FANTASTIC - seriously, the atmosphere when you walk in is warm and inviting. I want to give a HUGE SHOUT OUT TO ABEL!! It hasn't even been 24 hours since he did my hair, and I have had so many compliments already. He is an absolute BEAST with them clippers - The owner, Louia is sooooo personable and inviting from the moment I walked in as a walk-in. I've been to many other shops where this is not the case. It is so difficult to find a really good barber shop but the search ends here! Annnnndddd.... they don't price gouge like other shops. For anyone looking for a truly skilled and affordable place to get your hair cut - men OR women - please, give this shop a try .... you can...

Even though it's not my neighborhood, I started going to 5 Shades of Fades when my kid enrolled in School of Rock a few blocks away (convenient to get a haircut in while you're waiting for practice to end). It was my first time going back to a traditional barber shop after many years of overpriced salons, and I instantly felt right at home. Louai is friendly, funny, and knows his craft! He's got plenty of opinions on hairstyles if you want them, but always treats you like you're both the boss and a welcome friend. Now I'd drive here for a haircut even if I wasn't in the neighborhood, and you should too.

Oh, and did I mention that you can pair a trip here with stocking up on beer at Chuck's Hop Shop across the street? Talk about giving yourself...

I’d never been to a barbershop before, only salons. I usually get my hair cut extremely short, either an undercut or a mohawk, and at a salon it’s such a pain. The stylists get nervous when I say I want to shave most of my head. I told Edgar what I wanted and he was happy to do it. Not just like oh yeah we can do that. It was a ‘Hell yeah!’. He did an excellent job, the fade looks great, the trim was just the right amount shorter. His skills and care are top notch!
