I have never in my life heard of Glossier. The most knowledge that I had before arriving was the vague text that my friend sent me asking if I would like to visit "this big makeup store on the hill that's like a candy store"- After getting the chance to shop here, I find that to be the most accurate descriptor imaginable! Here is the biggest con of this location: I couldn't find it. Apparently I'm not alone, because when I popped into a local shop to ask for directions, the shop staff said "don't feel bad, we get this all the time." For those who are wondering, google maps is lost. Not you.
Before I even entered the shop, an employee held an umbrella over me while another explained the premise of the store and the rules of placing items that have been touched on a sanitation tray afterwards. The long and short of it is that everything is a sample, and any employee can ring you up and it will be brought out in a pretty pink branded bag. Every employee was so ridiculously nice. I theorized that it was because we came in pretty close to closing time, but also they're just genuinely helpful folks. We bothered Nikki for the majority of or shopping trip and she had such great product advice, and even better makeup!
While I can't see myself coming back (I have been wearing the same eyeliner look for the past 10 years) I appreciate this experience for what it is. The products were sephora-priced (expected) and it's mostly not my thing. But I did get a cute water bottle and some great conversation, so this adventure was...
Read moreMy absolute favorite part of any day is when I’m making a stop at the Glossier store in Seattle. It’s right in the heart of Capitol Hill, across from Elliot Bay Book Company & Lost Lake Cafe. Street parking is available as well paid parking lots close by. The store itself is so adorable and has the best decoration and I love the simple store layout with plenty of space to peruse and walk around to the various tables to look at and test different products, which are grouped by type so it makes it easier to find what you want and also discover something new or that you hadn’t planned on getting until you got there (which, honestly, I think is owed to the wonderful way the shop has each product laid out and available for you to test in store without any pressure so you can get a good feel for yourself and try different shades of various products on yourself in person. Just can’t beat that especially when buying new makeup!☺️) The store offers online orders for in store pickup as well which is super convenient and takes the whole trying to patiently wait for your new fun Glossier products to come in the mail! I highly recommend this brand and their products, and along with that, I highly recommend going to this store location (even though you can buy Glossier products at Sephora now, trust me, it’s totally not the same experience 😄) Love it! Friendliest employees who are so helpful and also just generally have fun chatting with people while they browse and...
Read moreReally incredibly beautiful store. The ambience and people that work here. The amazing lighting, and a fun exhibit like experience of their makeup and skincare. I love how friendly the glossier specialists are, and I feel like there’s always someone right behind me that I can ask a question to. When I order online, it takes me less than 5 to 10 minutes to get in and out of the store every time.
A message to the managers: When I do wanna go in just to shop I’d love to have people around that say hi to me and then I feel welcomed into going up to them and asking questions that may come up. Every time I’ve shopped here there’s been a floor specialist almost constantly next to me, and when I walk away, someone else comes up to me. They commonly stand very close to me as im looking. And it is sort of uncomfortable/crowding sometimes.
I went to the New York location before and it wasn’t like that. It was just total free range to look around and mostly felt really welcomed to ask a question to one of the specialist whenever. What I’m saying is there’s no need for them to exhaust themselves by constantly watching people look at things. I dont want to be crowded, i want to take a break from being “on” and simply look at all the amazing glossier creations. I would probably buy more make up if I had more of that space to relax and think for myself and really enjoy the sampling experience.
Thanks so...
