I have never understood how we as a community could ever be excepting and tolerant of the mistreatment and humiliation that we witness being done unto others. I watched almost every single employee except for one treat this group of people like they were animals. This one young black female who used to work the register but now works the self checkout was kind and polite but always professional. If it wasn't for her I would never go back to such a racist store.
PART 2: So like an idiot i went back to this store. Only this time i left balling my eyes out. To the point that i was crying so hard that i couldn't even see the way out. So i had gotten to the store around 11:37pm because im a single parent working 2 jobs as well as being enrolled in school full time, raising a daughter and a son. So i rushing thru the store trying to hurry up and get everything i needed for my household. I usually have my headphones on which i did this time. I didn't hear the announcement that they were not allowing people to purchase more than 15 items. I get to the register and start ringing my stuff up, when one of the managers comes up to me and tells me that i can't buy my food. Im looking at this man like he must be out of his mind. Because the last announcement said that if you have more than 15 items then you had to be at the register before 1am. Which i was!!!! He lets me ring my stuff up to then tell me that because my card had been demagnetized that he wasn't going to move it over to a different register. He then decides to argue with me, trying to humiliate me in front of everyone that was there telling me that "My mom was able to do it, and she did it within the correct time frame". Like how dare you speak to me in that manner. First that was like 40 years ago. An im pretty sure that she didn't work 2 jobs that were far apart from each other with no car. But even so you have no right to do this. He wouldn't let me pay for my stuff but in the same breathe he starts talking shit to me again about how long it's going to take him to put it all back. Like you are choosing to have it that way. I want my food, so i explain to him that all this time he is spending doing this,i could have paid for it by now and been gone. His final insult to me was just because we have a repore doesn't mean that i can do whatever i want. I have never felt so low,so embarrassed as a black woman and mother in my LIFE!!! I was spending over 200 dollars and this "man" refused to complete the purchase for the store. Especially seeing how so many of them are being closed down i would have thought that every dollar is highly important. I recommend that no one EVER come back to this store. There are only 3 people here that knows how to respect people. This is the caliber of the people that Kroger is choosing to interact with the public. So pretty much Kroger your telling the world that you are ok with the abusive power-trips from your staff. They reflect what your store is supposed to represent. For how i have been continually treated i will never give them another dollar. I will make sure my whole family does the same. Which is around 300 people here in Washington alone. Not to mention i am well connected to multiple non profits, people at city hall, the west precinct and multiple news stations. They all will know how people including myself are treated here an nothing is ever done about it. This store needs to be shut down FIRST. BROKEN HEARTED, EMBARRASSED AND DISAPPOINTED. Its time for a...
Read moreI reviewed QFC 7 months ago and I gave them 1 star. I am back to edit the review because they finally fixed the elevator some time in Dec. So if you walk or park up above because you're handicapped you can now enter OFC again.
I reviewed QFC Harvard Market about 6 months ago and I have to say it's gone steadily downhill. Here is my new review. The parking charge is excessive if you shop over 30 min. If you walk it's difficult to get into the store. Fried chicken is really bad now. They overcook it, they stop making it at 5 pm. They argue about giving you an all-dark chicken box. It tastes like old oil now and lastly, the pieces aren't always even whole pieces. The breast has been trimmed so they have a tenderloin and then they fry what's left and call it the breast. 2 pieces out of one. I've also had them do that to the thighs, as you can see in the pic below (lighter for size). We'll not be buying chicken again. You don't get what you think you are paying for. They charge you full Breast and Thigh price but you are only getting half of the Breast and half of the Thigh. Check it out next time you buy fried chicken; or better yet BEFORE you buy it. *Customer Service is almost non-existent. Especially in the Deli. The woman argued with me and said the piece wasn't cut in half. Even when I showed her the cut thigh bone. *The Homeless in front of the door aggressively ask for your money. If you have a travel basket they will grab it to stop you. It's like running a gauntlet to enter/exit the store. It is the only door into the store now as the elevators are shut down. I've had to ask Security to help me pass thru them. *The elevators have not worked in weeks now. A clerk told me that "corporate knows already" and that she had no other info. *The stairs down to the front door are very steep. They are not handicapped-friendly. The only ramp is from the garage. The entrance to the garage is down a hill and around the corner. Not handicapped-friendly to have to walk thru the parking garage to reach the ramp either. *NOT Handicapped friendly due to inability to enter the store without an elevator easily. Also, the security devices, stacks of crap by the doors, and no bathroom anymore all say NOT HANDICAPPED FRIENDLY.
I'll give credit where it is due tho; the lady in the floral dept is fabulous. She'll go out of her way to help you choose a bouquet or help you make one up yourself. I hope she never leaves.
I figure Kroger just wants out of this store so they are letting it go to hell in a handbasket and then will claim it was the area. They could have security keep the Homeless and addicts away from the store. They could fix the accessibility problem. They could clean the store. They could train their staff, starting with John (wow, so rude) in self-check. But they don't, so they just want out. LOL like a person who can't ask for a divorce, they act bad until the other person does it for them. In this case, they are setting the Harvard Market store up for closure due to loss of income by making it intolerable for people to shop there. They get a tax write-off if they are...
Read moreUnlawful Behavior and Discrimination Towards a Service Dog Handler at QFC
I recently had an incredibly distressing experience at the QFC store located at 1401 Broadway involving one of their employees, Peter. As a service dog handler, I rely on my companion for assistance, and the law protects our rights and accessibility in public spaces. However, on Thursday April 18th, I encountered flagrant disregard for both state and federal laws protecting individuals with disabilities.
Upon entering the checkout line, I positioned my service dog in a manner that was inconspicuous and out of the way, only to have Peter approach me and demand that I move my dog, despite already being in compliance with store policies. To avoid any further conflict, I relocated my service dog to a different area, ensuring that he was not obstructing anyone's path.
Despite my efforts to comply and maintain peace, Peter's behavior escalated. While I was in the process of checking out, Peter aggressively pulled my cart away from me not once, but twice. This act of physical aggression is not only unacceptable but also constitutes assault under Washington state law. It is essential to highlight that I was simply trying to complete my purchase and was not engaging in any confrontational behavior.
Furthermore, when I attempted to address the issue with Joshua, the person in charge, he dismissed my concerns and insinuated that my actions were racially motivated. This response not only invalidated my experience but also demonstrated a lack of accountability on the part of QFC management.
Despite my efforts to reason with Peter and explain that forcibly grabbing my cart while I was holding onto it was unacceptable, he attempted to justify his behavior by citing the earlier request to relocate my service dog. However, his rationale made no sense given that I had already adhered to his initial directive by moving my service dog to a completely different location, away from any potential obstruction.
In essence, Peter's attempt to justify his behavior falls flat in the face of both logic and legal precedent. His actions constitute a clear violation of my rights as a service dog handler and serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing discrimination and mistreatment faced by individuals with disabilities in public spaces.
I urge QFC to take immediate action to address this matter and ensure that all employees receive comprehensive training on disability rights, including the proper treatment of service animals and their handlers. Additionally, I expect a formal apology and assurance that measures will be implemented to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
As a member of the disability community, I refuse to tolerate such discrimination and will continue to advocate for my rights and the rights of others in...
