I have heard some positive things about Anytime Fitness gyms from a few different people. So I was excited to know they had put one a couple of blocks away from our family home! Which piqued my interest in Anytime Fitness all the more. I've always been highly independent in any of my exercise goals, whether it be weight training, running, water sports, dance, hiking, biking, etc.
So, at first, I figured I would possibly sign up for a membership to reorient myself with weight training after several stop-and-go goals of trying to do weight training at home. I was losing patience and feeling quite stuck. I contacted the gym and talked with Julian about Anytime Fitness. I voiced that I was open to doing some initial training or just being shown around the gym to get started on my "independent" weight-training journey.
The reason I chose weight training is that it seems to be one of the best exercises to maintain overall health and longevity as we age, and it supports every other physical and mental activity, be it other exercise activities, daily care tasks around the home, and at work. It highly supports the mental energy it takes to carry the cognitive load of caring for family and home. My only issue was the challenge of getting started, designing a workout, and then holding myself accountable. With all my responsibilities, it proved to be more challenging than I remembered.
With all that, I made an appointment to meet with Julian to explore the possibilities of what the gym offered. I felt an immediate comfort with Julian as he spent much time getting a complete picture of where I was in life and what I was looking for from an exercise regimen. He took in all the information, asked detailed questions, and shared ideas and possibilities. He came up with an exercise plan and an approach to start with, and just in that one meeting, I realized how excited I was to begin. Initially, I hoped to have him design the workout based on my goals and experience.Yet, I was impressed with Julian's knowledge and ability to share the what, when, how, and why of the workout plan, as well as his openness to my questions. Through that process, I definitely wanted to do the workouts with him the first week and then set out on my own with the possibility of coming back around to fine-tune the workouts after a month or two. After the first week, I was thrilled with the training techniques and the unexpected benefits of feeling things progress so soon that I made several other appointments with Julian for personal training sessions! The benefits of what I have gained in the weight training and the constant knowledge Julian has shared thus far have fueled my intrigue and commitment to keep learning and working. With that, I'm now hooked and excited about the possibilities for my health and wellness goals. My independent mind has shifted to the abundance that interdependence provides when working with my new mentor, Julian! Needless to say, I look forward to many more weight training sessions and the possibilities for health and wellness that...
Read moreI love this gym! I’m personally not a fan of working out but I joined mid-January with the goal to become more healthy and it’s been incredibly helpful. I love the spaciousness of this gym, the amount of machines they have, and all the employees there are amazing! Sarah is a fantastic coach and her classes are amazing, I really like that she offers modified versions of exercises if I can’t do the full exercise which is super helpful. I love working with her because even on days where I feel like I can’t do anything, she motivates me to push myself and I feel more confident in myself and my abilities by the end of the session. Julian and Alvaro are both very helpful, always willing to answer any questions and assist anyone who comes in! They’re also funny and great to talk to, and they make the gym a more positive experience for me :) I’ve struggled a lot in the past with trying to go to the gym and exercising, and this is the first time that I’ve been able to stick with it and make some great progress towards my goals due to the support from all three of them. I would definitely recommend this...
Read moreI toured this facility with the manager, Julian. It's a very nice, new, clean open-feeling space. Basically one big room with plenty of space to do anything you need. High ceilings, and plenty of airflow. Everything smells, looks, and is in fact very new and clean. It's not one of these dank old gyms with paint peeling off the equipment. It's nestled in a busy shopping plaza so parking can be tight but not difficult. An added benefit of the location is that you can grab a coffee next door or groceries at the Fircrest Market. This gym does not have a lot of extra amenities like steam rooms, a pool, a red-light bed or etc. It is a gym for people who like to do a self-paced workout: lifting weights, some cardio, doing a workout. It has abundant free weights, kettlebells, and plenty of body-specific machines, including all the standard modern machines you'd expect. As a place to do a functional workout, I rate it very highly -- and it is one of the best options...
