I really don’t have much to say about this place because my experience was brief and really showed a lack of customer support. I know this won’t be a review that someone reads and decides not to join this gym, because if I’m being honest it’s a nice gym. I went to do a free trial here on Sunday 11/27 where I had to hand over my ID to one of the workers at a side desk. When I asked for my ID back I assumed I would be asked if I’d like to join, but I wasn’t. I’m a little awkward so I was fine with this and knew I’d be able to sign up at home online. When I tried to do this I kept getting a server error and then at 11pm that night the prices went up by $5. I called immediately the next day and was assured that I was the 10th person to call about the server error and it was just their fault, but that I could come in and they’d be able to sign me up for that price. That same day I got a text from the Edge about a BOGO membership where if you bought a year you got the second year free. I immediately went to the gym to sign up at 3pm! When I got there I said, should I sign up now for the BOGO or after I workout? The front desk worker told me after was fine! I signed up and signed all of the paperwork and ran my debit card by 4:30pm. Today on 11/29 I went in excited to workout and I was informed they somehow sold out of all the memberships? I was confused and frustrated and politely asked if they’d still honor it because I did nothing wrong. They turned me away, and I left without them blinking an eye. I’m really upset and just want to convey that this place doesn’t care about customer care or experience. I wish there was something I could of done and I wish I was showed that they cared about me just a smidge. I know it’s just a gym, but it really would of been life changing if I couldnof joined for the price I literally signed a...
Read moreUPDATED: Moved to 1 star. Tried canceling my membership and emailed the abc outsourced email referenced, no response in my cancelation after multiple follow ups over a month. Emailed the Edge customer service twice and both times just ignored that I wasn’t getting a response on my cancelation. Finally got ahold of someone and have a written response that it is canceled. What a continued disappointment! Original Review: I’m bummed to give a bad review, but haven’t gotten a response from a submitted email from their website when using “contact us” or a text back directly when texted from someone named “Jake” who claimed they were the Fitness Manager at Shrewsbury and never received a response. However, when moving from club fitness to the edge, something that attracted me and my group of friends to the edge was the cleanliness and accessibility. Myself, and others in the gym (outside of my friend group that we have spoke to) have complained and submitted "requests" with no response to the potent smell of all the free weights. They have an awful stench of sweat and need to be properly cleaned! This is disappointing as I would hope to receive a response or have adequately cleaned weights. This is not something that can be fixed with a wipe down from a wet wipe. They need to be soaked, they smell like sweat has soaked into them. Making them almost unusable without gagging. We hardly even use that area now and have to resort to the women’s room or avoiding some exercises all together. Just hoping this might get through since other avenues haven't worked. Please also work on listening to customer feedback instead of consistently ignoring their complaints. Seriously has me considering finding somewhere else when our contract is up. Positives: You fix equipment quickly and the front desk staff...
Read moreOverall, this is a good gym and I would recommend it. Positives include: 1. friendly staff, 2. good smoothie/snack bar options, 3. lots of equipment, has just about everything you need, 4. the fitness center is usually pretty clean, 5. most members are good about wiping down equipment after use.
The less-than-positives: 1. there is one(!) drinking fountain on the main level, which is just odd for a gym this size, and as a result it gets a ton of use and often malfunctions (warm water, doesn't work at all, etc.). That said, there is another one upstairs that usually works better, and also (in my experience) staff is happy to refill your water bottle at the smoothie bar. 2. There is no HVAC in (at least the men's) locker room, and given it is Summer, it is sooooo hot in there. This is especially rough for those of us that use the showers; you start sweating again right away. Speaking of the showers, more often than not, there is a used Band-Aid left behind either on the floor or the built in shelf. I understand that to a certain extent the gym may be at the mercy of the property owner, which could make it challenging to address all of the non-positives. But, if this is the case, I would encourage them to press (or press harder) the property owner to address some of these issues. If not for these, I would be...
