A great park with all kinds of playground equipment, more than you'd think. The whisper dishes are cool, to find out what they are, you have to have two people, and each go to each dish. Talk with the other person a hundred feet away and it sounds like you are standing next to them. Take note of the gigantic gazebo structure, then find the paintings on the ground in a circle next to it. They are representing the relative size of the planets, and the gazebos yellow circle all the way around it is the relative size of the sun. A plaque near by gives more info. The parking lot at Sertoma park on Oxbow shares the park with the Butterfly House and the Outdoor Campus. The Butterfly House's name tells you what it is, it also has a aquarium, there is a cost to visit the Butterfly House $. The Outdoor Campus is free to visit, many activities take place here. This is as place all in the area should visit several times to check what all activities may be available to you, its a great place to learn and walk and visit, park personal are happy to answer questions, I found out I can get lake maps here to better my fishing game, they had many different lakes and their depths, it was a long time ago, I don't remberer what the cost was. They used to have a blue Jay there that couldn't be released for years, it could say a few phrases and 'choice' words, it past away a couple years ago, what was his name?? Was it 'Flopper'?? I don't know. Around the park and Campus building is a couple of lakes and walking trails, the walking trail is a smooth trail easy walking it goes a long way around the big lake, maps are available. The number one use of this park is the regular playground equipment, this park has like four or more different complete playground sets for different levels, it has changed a bit, but it still has a lot of different things for children to do. The Gazebo has a lot of picnic chairs, a lot of them, their must be seating for more than a hundred or more in this monster sized Gazebo. Maybe even two hundred or more, I don't know, I bet a crowd of two thousand could squeeze in the thing. Yes, its big. If you are in Sioux Falls be sure to visit the Outdoor Campus and butterfly House. Or sit awhile in the giant Gazebo while the kids burn calories on the...
Read moreSolid park. I think it’s one of the biggest in Sioux Falls. There is a really big place with a lot of picnic tables. A butterfly house that’s a little pricy. And the outdoor campus is neat for what it is. As a kid, this was definitely the place we played the most when in Sioux Falls. I was so proud of myself when I finally made it to the top of the playground we called the spiderweb. (A bunch of tubes netted together in a half sphere)
Is it the best park in Sioux Falls? Maybe. My opinion as a childless heir to a secret dynasty probably shouldn’t hold much sway. But I can tell you that with all the options of playgrounds in this park, it’s unlikely your children will be unhappy coming here. (Unless of course they are throwing a fit for no reason whatsoever, but at that point they were never going to be happy and you can just accept that your probably still an...
Read moreThis is a pretty nice park. It is set up a bit differently - as it has ‘pods’ for different park features. It is great because kids can stay engaged in a variety of different events. There is a very large structure in the center. There was a wedding party in one part of this shelter - along with many other groups - and all were in this shelter - comfortably separate from each other group. The butterfly house is quite close to this park, and there is a unique ‘outdoor campus’ which inspires learning in the outdoors. We visit this park often and are always pleased with the variety of activities we can do! Finally - you can park your vehicle and have very easy access to the walking trails system Sioux Falls has to offer. Go as far...
