I only found out this place existed only a week ago because of a road sign advertising a production of "Heathers the Musical", which is personally one of my favorite musicals.
Like a lot of smaller venues this is a non-profit community theater, so please remember this when setting expectations on a visit.
The Location- Exterior: Playcrafters is rather easy to get to being just off the main road. The location has gravel parking on site that surrounds the building largest part of the lot being closer to the back ramp.
I personally like the esthetic of the converted barn as it matches the surrounding environment of the town very well.
Interior: Ground floor next to the box office is where the bathrooms are located, with the Theater itself on the first floor accessible from the front staircase, or a ramp located towards the back.
As you will see in the photo, This is a fairly small theater with 6 rows and only 115 available seats for guests. Seats are not only comfortable, but also all have a fairly good viewing experience for what ever performance you are watching.
Performance- Production: The one thing I did notice was that once and a while it seemed that the cast mics would need to get raised a tad mid performance from time to time. I am unsure if this is due to maybe a slight malfunction or possibly the sound engineer having trouble keeping up with the cast. Now this could be for a number of factors and because of the size of the theater and projection from the actors during songs, this wasn't a big deal, but this is why I am giving 4 instead of 5 stars.
Cast: Everyone did extremely well overall for this performance. Heathers the musical has some very strong numbers that the Cast knocked out it out of the croquet field.
Avery Gallagher (Veronica Sawyer): This was one of the better performances of this character that I have seen. The energy she brought was great. Her performance for "I say no" and "Fight for me" were chilling.
Adam Kimmel (J.D): I was fairly impressed for his portrayal of J.D. His vocals were fantastic for "Freeze your Brain" and the insanity that is "Meant to be Yours"
Christie Lohr (Heather McNamara): All I have to say is "Lifeboat" was amazing!
Conclusion- Overall it is a great local spot to see shows that are wallet friendly and you can feel the love from those that are working on all the aspects. Can't wait to see something...
Read moreWe went to see Puffs and it was amazing. It is an intimate setting and the seats are pretty comfortable with a lot of leg room. The programs are nicely done. The set was well thought out. The actors were hillarious and couldn't have done a better job. We were definitely transported to a different world. There is plenty of parking and it is in a rural setting. It is well worth the money and I am looking forward to going...
Read moreThis is an excellent local theater! Very talented actors. I have been a season member for 2 years. The theater is small enough that every seat is a great seat. They could certainly user some financial support to improve the refreshment/ intermission area but to me, that is secondary and it is perfectly adequate the...
