Very poor and slow service. Food was mediocre. They have a menu posted online which is not the in-house menu, not even close. We found out 15-20 minutes after ordering that they were out of some items, so we had to switch them. Being out of something is understandable but having to wait that long to find out is a problem. We ordered appetizers and the nacho app had clearly been sitting as it was cold and coagulated and stuck to the foil liner so we sent that back. Clams were good but no broth. They have no kids menu but we were able to order buttered pasta for them. Ordered one for them to share as the waitress said it was a large portion and that she would split it up for us, but couldn't tell us what kind of pasta it would be. All of the food was luke warm at best and not very tasty. I could detail the problems but this review will be long as it is. We ordered a couple sodas and after asking for refills she took about another 15 minutes to bring them, stopping out once and saying she'd be right back with them and they were in the window. Against our better judgment we ordered desert, S'mores dipping desert (pot of melted chocolate, marshmallows and graham cracker to dip) , and mini cannolis. She wasn't sure if they had either of those and had to let us know. Another 20 minutes later and someone else came out with one of each. We were all surprised as she never came back out to tell us they had them because we were going to order 2 of each. We told the person that brought them out and she said she'd go get more. The S'mores "melted" chocolate had either been sitting for a while or never heated throughly because it was hardened. You could stick a fork through it but not either of the 2 pieces of graham cracker. When I say 2 I mean 2 of the quarter pieces when you break up a full boxed graham cracker, and a few mini marshmallows. Again, wouldn't be so bad but after charging $8 and giving a fancy sounding name to be given something my kid might make in home ec is a problem. The mini cannolis were actually pretty crispy and good, maybe the highlight of the meal. After another 10 minutes the waitress brought out the bill, and we told her of the dessert issue which she just said ok. The bill still had the nacho app we sent back, the wrong meals on it from the substitution and, somehow, the double dessert though she acted like she didn't know what we had said to the other woman. Also found out, from reading the bill, that 18% gratuity was added. Again, understandable that they do that for larger parties, though we had 7, but it wasn't noted on menu anywhere and we were not told prior to ordering. I waited for her a bit then went to track her down and tell her of the issues and to cancel the 2nd dessert that were still being made. She brought out the corrected bill and for the first time of the night apologized for the long wait and thanked us for our patience, with it being tip time and all. Then after rereading the corrected bill I discovered we were charged for 2 kids pastas though she said she was just going to split the one for us. At that point I just wanted to leave so we paid it. I would have happily paid for 2 to begin with but that wasn't the situation that was presented to us. The place seems like it might be an ok beer and shot bar to go to and has outdoor seating, which we didn't see, just the sign for it, but it's trying to sell itself as some higher end restaurant and, by our experience,...
Read moreI used to come here all the time and get their brick chicken. It was one of my favorite things on the menu! The service has always been pretty bad but the food was so so good that it was worth it. Then the quality of the brick chicken started a slowly go down— for a few times that I ordered it, It didn’t quite taste the same and then the last few times I ordered it, it was awful. Then they took it off the menu so I decided to try their chicken pot pie and it was incredible! However when I went last week for some chicken pot pie, they were sold out and they told me to come the next week. Super disappointing but it’s now the next week and I was so excited! Unfortunately I was served an overcooked / almost burnt puff pastry on top. It was super bitter and not tasty at all + some soggy burnt pieces inside too (yet somehow there were parts in the middle that the pastry was raw ? so aka turn down the oven temp and cook it for less time lol). I didn’t even get a chance to let my server know because not once did she check up on me besides for me to ask for the check (also I was the only person there besides 1 other couple at a table so ?). So when she handed me the check and she asked how everything was, I let her know the pastry on top is overcooked and bitter so that was a bit disappointing since it’s the best part! she was super sweet and said she would let the chef know. I thought maybe she would come back and say the chef sent his apologies or something but she just came back to hand me my change in which I said thank you so much and she just walked away. I will probably not ever be back for a pot pie again. oh, also their tomato soup that comes with their grilled cheese is very on obviously from a can and not very good. great...
Read moreWalking in the door you are greeted by a warm and cozy establishment, almost like a cottage feel. The staff are warm and welcoming as they find a seat which you are interested in, restaurant, bar or bar table. Soon after being seated you are greeted by your waiter or waitress whom requests your drink order. In our case we were very interested in their extensive draft list but had several questions. Josh who was our fantastic waiter walked us through the draft menu offering us recommendations based on previous guests; being very patient in the process as we took some time to decide. After that they were very efficient with procuring our drinks and taking our first and second course orders. The food was out of this world, surpassing our expectations being a small tavern on the outskirts of a large city! This food was out of this world. French inspired cuisine with a flair of local decadence, I am serious when I tell you this food will not disappoint. I highly recommend the smoked Gouda Mac and cheese and mushroom, Gouda pizza, and seared tuna. These dishes were large in portion while being reasonable in price. Additionally the short rib and beef tips were fantastic main courses but the pot pie was a close 3rd with the apple dumplings and the s'more's tart being my favorite desserts! Then there was Karla our fabulous bartender and mixologist who provided our flight of beers perfectly labeled for the tasting and after drink cocktails with the most beautiful garnishes. Each drink was hand crafted with the most perfect touch to signify that there had been much care and thought delivered into the formulation. Overall, this establishment far surpassed my initial expectations and may be one of my new favorited spots...
