Wonderful place to visit. A beautiful lighthouse view. I was traveling back from my trip to Holland and grand rapids and stoped by here to spend some time in evening on my way to Chicago. There is plenty street parking available , i reached here on a Saturday evening in summers and still easily found a parking spot. Parking is metered with 30 min per quarter dollar. There is a cafe which serves quick bites ice cream and coffee. Public restroom also available. There is also a play area for the kids. Views are just beautiful at the beach. While you visit there you will drive from beautiful and happening downtown south haven. Unfortunately I couldn’t spend time in downtown maybe on my next visit.

The South Haven public beach is one of my favorites. The beach is very well maintained, kept graded and clean. Walking the pier to the lighthouse and back is a must just for the lake views. And there are many people who line the pier at dawn to fish. OF course, you can even swim - the water is just deep enough for swimming, and stays at waist-high level for a long way out. The entire area is friendly and welcoming. Parking is a challenge, but if you are willing to walk, there is a public parking area where a farmers' market is held on Saturday morning that is convenient to the beach. Get there early - the crowds start to build around 10 am and don't fade until after sunset.

An amazing beach in South Haven, Michigan. Great for a fun family day at the beach. Beautiful sunset with awesome view of lighthouse Pier. Amazing view and sunset from Pier. It even has a little playground for the little ones that anyone can use!!! If you just want a picnic on the beach they even have multiple picnic tables with spots for umbrellas. It offers one of the best views for the Light up the Lake fireworks show. It even has it's own website for a live view of South Beach, but it is on a 30 minute delay right now. I highly recommend going here if you are in or near South Haven, Michigan and want anything to do with the beach!!!!!!!!!!!

Much more crowded than North Beach, it seems this is where everyone goes, because of the beautiful pier and lighthouse. At sunset, the lights come alive and leave shining reflections on the sand. You can also see boats coming in on the Black River, as they return to the marina for the evening. There's a rest area with the handicap stall having a bench for helping you to change - if you're swimming after sunset, note that this might be closed. There are 2 concession areas, paid parking (free after 6), picnic tables, and a play area for kids. The water is warmer and there are fewer waves than on North Beach, because of the protection of the pier.

Nice beach with a pier with a lighthouse that has a cat walk. Beach is pretty small so I imagine it fills up quick on weekends, but during the week it wasn’t too bad. I didn’t like that there wasn’t an option to pay by the hour. You had to pay $10 for the day, but I didn’t plan to stay long and really just wanted to walk the pier for the light house. Before you get to the beach there is quite a few metered spaces on the road if you are looking to pay just for a few hours. I didn’t notice any public bathrooms or changing rooms either, I may have missed them if they were tucked behind the ice cream store.

The beach is really near to the parking but parking is $10 a day, so I had parked on the road near a church. It had access to the beach. The beach is really shallow, so you can walk far into the water, which is awesome!!! The light house on both North and South side are easy walks. You can take a walk through the downtown to get to other side. Waves on North side seemed rough than South and there was less crowd on North side. Definitely try the ice cream at the concession stand near South side Beach and enjoy a good day.
