We went to the playground part of the park. This is a well designed playground. It is completely enclosed by a fence, and has one gate entrance with doors that would be heavy for little kids to open. There are places all around the park for adults to sit; benches and short walls. There are trees which provide shade in some places. There is a big playground area with climbing 'fort' and long curly slides and monkey bars. There is bark ground underneath so it's not too hard. There are swings for little kids and for bigger kids which require an adult to push them. There is a merry go round type structure on a very springy surface. There is a big sandy area for dirt play. There is a splash pad with buttons to push and make sprinklers come on that your kids can run through. The coolest thing is the artificial 'creek' which ends in the water spewing out the big dragon's nostrils. Now, having said all this positive stuff, you really do have to supervise your kid, because despite all the safety features, they still can get hurt. They can fall in the playground area and they can slip in the water area (although not so much IN the water, but just on the concrete sidewalks surrounding those areas, which are slippery). They can get hit by swings if they walk in front of them. So it's not just a 'run-wild' type of place. But with normal supervision, it's a GREAT little park! There are clean bathrooms just outside the gate, and there are picnic tables a short walk away. BEST of all...this is...
Read moreThis varied and creative park is spacious, entirely enclosed by a tall metal gate and accessible by a single pair of heavy doors. It boasts a variety of options with multiple climbing structures, two sizes of rope nets, two zip lines (at grade, so kids can get on by themselves), two basket swings, a sandbox area with play house, several swingsets with chair swing options, and other interesting play equipment. It makes great use of the space, using the existing terrain in high and low spaces to allow the kids to play on the "mountain" or in several "caves." Best of all, central in the park is a splash pad to cool off in the summer. The fountain types are few, and it isn't as big as the Watauga splash pad for example, but a way to cool down is a way to cool down! For parents, there is plenty of shaded seating around the splash pad that allows one to see almost everywhere in the park, and there are many other bunches and seats around the area too. Inside the gate are two three-level drinking fountains (only was was working as of June 2025) and another is a short walk away at the spacious and...
Read moreThis is my favorite playground park. It was designed intentionally with safety and diverse age groups in mind. Besides being incredibly huge and tailored for young and older children, by far the best feature is that it is completely enclosed/gated AND the gate to enter the playground is in the INNER interior (so the gate is not opening up and facing a parking lot or road). There is a restroom close by with water fountains that have always worked when we were there. In the summer months, there are two water features that help cool the kids off, each tailored for a different age group. There are trash cans throughout, so you don’t have to go very far to through away a diaper. The people I have met here have always been friendly. Moms, nannys, babysitters, and grandparents, the crowd has always been diverse, which makes conversations interesting and the time passes quickly. The parking lot can get crowded in the morning, but even when the lot is packed, the park itself is so large that we still have been able to find places to sit and areas to play. It seems like the crowd dissipates...
