Thai in Town Southlake — Restaurant in Southlake

A friend told us about this restaurant. We love Thai food and it's been hard to find authentic Thai. The food was tasty but we were completely put off by the strong upsell - from the moment we sat down (still or sparkling water, cocktails, sodas for teens in our group, etc). But when the check came, the server told us that the 20% service charge had been added automatically because we were a party of 5. I didn't notice their policy on the menu at the time we placed our order but went back and saw it near the last page. I worked as a server in restaurants for many years and I feel tips should be earned. There was a mistake with one of the dishes we ordered and it took a very long time to arrive. The server told us about the mistake, but still expected to receive a full 20% gratuity.

Tipping is out of control. It's terrible when restaurant owners feel the need to tack on a service charge - and we were only Five people. Come on now! It's not like we were a difficult party to handle with 5 people!

Sorry but we won't be going back to...

We had a Great Meal and even better Customer Service! Everyone made sure our daughter was happy with her meal and always kept our water topped up. We were craving Thai and this establishment was perfect! Thank you for making sure our first time here was a memorable one. We will definitely be back for some coconut ice cream! They have really nice flavors and this time we ordered the Thai tea flavor. Definitely give them a try...they have a good selection with meals from the East/West/central etc...And not to forget a great Cocktail menu! We had a lovely lunch today at Thai in Town. This was our first opportunity to visit after their opening two months ago. We felt so spoiled by the friendly, attentive staff. Our meals (Cashew Nuts with Chicken and Teriyaki Chicken) from the luncheon menu were PLENTIFUL and delicious. The sauces were well balanced with just the right spice level - medium for us. The restaurant's serene atmosphere is perfect for a business lunch or friends' lunch. We're looking forward to experiencing their impressive dinner menu and dessert! For us, this is our favorite Thai...
