TL;DR: This is probably the best in Spokane if you are looking for a gym that is more oriented towards bodybuilding or powerlifting.
Free Weights: There are three squat racks, a lot of benches, deadlifting platforms with barbell jacks, bumper plates, a variety of different barbells including a trap bar and safety squat bar and some Olympic weightlifting bars. There is as wide a variety of dumbbells as you could wish for, I think up to 200lbs.
Weight training machines: this gym has without a doubt the best variety of bodybuilding machines in Spokane. As well as the whole range of machines for upper body training, like cables, flies, etc, there is a huge variety of squat variations like belt squat, pendulum squat, leg presses, reverse hypertension machines, and so on. If you have difficulty doing barbell squats or deadlifts for some reason, or you need to do rehab, you will probably find a machine here that works for you.
Calisthenics/Functional fitness/etc: This gym doesn't have things like tires, sandbags, sleds, battle ropes, a rope to climb, or a turf mat. There are a few kettlebells, mostly less than 30 pounds or so. However, there is an area for stretching with some resistance bands and yoga mats. There is a big enough open area down the front of the gym to do farmer carries, walking lunges, and that kind of thing.
Cardio: There isn't a massive selection of cardio machines like you will find at big name commercial gyms. However, there are 8 or so treadmills, some exercise bikes, and stepmills. I use the treadmills and stepmills here all the time, and even though there aren't many of them, I've never had to wait for a machine longer than a minute or two.
Personal Training: if you are interested in bodybuilding, there is no doubt in my mind that this is one of the best gyms in the state, if not the entire country, to get training, from amateur to pro level. If you don't care about bodybuilding, the coaches here are still extremely knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition in general. They are also very approachable and friendly; I have seen them working with all kinds of folk.
Facilities: There are a couple of bathrooms, but no showers. Towels and sanitizer are always available. This isn't a big commercial gym with a million TVs on the walls and a brand new remodel every 5 years, but everything is kept clean and orderly. There is WiFi. You can buy protein powder and supplements here. There aren't drinking fountains, so bring a water bottle.
Staff: It's kind of hit or miss whether staff is available, so I recommend getting in touch via email. The best time to walk in is probably weekday mornings. Once you get a membership, your key fob works 24/7.
Conclusion: this is a lifter's gym. Another review put it best: Planet Fitness has nightmares about this place. People won't look at you funny for dropping weights or using chalk. If you're interested in either bodybuilding or powerlifting, you can probably learn more from a 5 minute conversation with a random person here than you can from weeks with a personal trainer at other gyms. Don't be intimidated by the fact that some of these guys are built like fortresses; it is a very friendly, welcoming community, especially to...

From my first experience. Very small gym. Thereâs better gyms in Spokane. Itâs a step up from planet fitness but nothing to special. Thereâs gyms that offer better free weight machines & nicer free weights which is very beneficial. The smell wasnât too pleasant due to the small space of the gym. If it was bigger and maybe a tad bit more cleaner you wouldnât smell pungent sweat emitting from people. This is a simple honest review from someone who has been to numerous gyms in Spokane.
I recommend going to Spokane Fitness Center on the north side. This gym doesnât have much to offer besides weightlifting. Which every other strength training gym in Spokane offers. Making it pretty basic.
As a natural bodybuilder I love big facilities with showers, nice bathrooms, day care for kids, sauna rooms for detoxification, swimming pools and hot tubs etc⊠Hardcore gym charges for guests without a membership. Which can add up if youâre someone who likes to bring a lot of friends. Places like spokane fitness allow you to bring guests for free as a part of your membership. Not to mention all the great things they offer.
Gyms are more than just bodybuilding. Not everyone is a bodybuilder / powerlifter. A place where you can spend time and relax is always a plus. You canât really sit down and relax at hardcore gym.
Check out Spokane Fitness Center before you come to hardcore gym I promise you it wonât be a waste...
Read moreA true bodybuilder's gym yet it has an appeal that will fit anyone's idea of what a gym needs to be, from the average person wanting to be fit, to the top level, professional bodybuilder. Not content with having new and trendy equipment, Bruce (owner) seeks out effective equipment no matter what era it comes from. This is evident by many classic Nautilus pieces being ready for your use. I trained at this gym over the years when I was in Spokane for extended stays and am happy to say that Hardcore is my exclusive training center now. Being around so many people serious about their health and fitness is...
