Wow! Where to begin. Our son was getting married in a month and asked if I would bring an oyster platter as part of a five senses grounding ceremony. Oysters because the wedding was in coastal Calofornia. Anyway; I looked at various platters out there and they seemed either too cheap or to fancy to me. I looked into making something at the various maker workshops in Philly but the cost and time commitment did not fit the task. I found Busy Bee's through google search and called. Asked if I could make a platter and paint it. They don't have pottery wheels ( not that I would have needed one) but they did explain a method using flattened clay and roping. Nadia was incredibly helpful with suggestions and explanations of how to do it best. There were multiple steps so I had to go a few different days to complete the platter and paint it so they could fire it in their kiln for each step. Karen the owner was also very helpful with feedback. With one week left before the wedding I had taken the platter home with the paint I wanted to use so I could get it done sooner. While I was putting the finishing touches on it I accidentally dropped it and it shattered. Going into a full blown panic attack I called my wife and she left work, picked me up, and we went back to busy bee to start over. Karen was very helpful in getting us through the process again ( while answering the phone, guiding her team to help groups of kids ( lots of them), firing pottery… ). She helped us get it done in time and we were off to California. 😅 They are an awesome team and I would recommend them for parties or field trips or some parent-child time. They have a large selection of pre-fired pottery to paint in one visit and their color selection is amazing. It was an awesome experience and now I'm thinking of what else I could make. Thank you very much for helping me create art with...
Read moreBusy Bees is a creative adorable gem hidden in a local plaza. I've driven by numerous times while visiting the dollar tree and never stopped by. But I'm really glad I came in today. It's so cheerful and colorful. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They have so many options! For boys and girls. You can do a mosaic, a canvas painting, paint a wine glass, build pottery out of clay or paint ceramics. They have monthly activities like BYOB Bingo Paint nights for adults and birthday parties for kids are popular too. It's so relaxing for adults and a wonderful activity for kiddos. No age limitations! The fees are super affordable, the timeline for getting pieces back is prompt and professional and they rotate seasonal options (right now they have adorable bunnies and sunflower plates available for Easter!). Overall, it's a lovely small business and I'm so grateful to have found it. I can't wait to come back and I...
Read moreThis has been my 5th project at busy Bee’s, and I couldn’t recommend it enough! I come all the way from Philly just to work on projects here. What I love is that there are so many mediums to play with. It was my first time working with glass fusing and I love it! It’s so easy to drop in and work on a project. This is also a really great place for making custom gifts for loved ones— the perfect excuse to be creative! I’ve also brought a group of friends here. This place is awesome for a date, for a meet up with friends, for families, for solo work, or for special occasions. And the team here is so lovely too. Thank...
