Springfield Diner was one of my mother’s favorite restaurants, so I took my “special “ sister Joanne there for birthday lunch. Everyone was so friendly and the food was good. Joanne ordered patriotic French toast, topped with strawberries blueberries and bananas. She really enjoyed that and so did I when I was offered a taste of it. My option was triple decker turkey bacon club sandwich on white toast with mayo. So delicious, but next time I’ll ask for extra mayo as the sandwich was dry. Our server was just short of perfect (we had to wait longer than usual for the check, and she never came to check for refills because of our coffee, iced tea, or water. I purchased some pastries on the way out (how could I not?) and the manager, who knew Joanne, got them for us. All in all my sister’s birthday lunch was awesome. I only have two negatives to speak of: Although everyone knew my sister, the diner never offered her anything for her birthday and I thought that the total bill was pricey: $89 for lunch for two and six pastries plus six chocolate covered strawberries before gratuity. Joanne and I enjoyed the lunch together, and that’s what really matters.

My mother brought me here for dinner. Service was ok, barely a smile in the building though. The food arrived in a timely manner. The chicken orzo soup was good and the rolls were fresh. I ordered the broiled seafood combination platter and I felt offended by the breadcrumbs on all of my seafood, which in my many years of dining out have never encountered with a broiled anything. The green beans were good though and the gravy for my mashed potatoes (thank goodness I ordered it on the side) had a film covering the top and it was sooooo bad. Tasted like roux and had no kinda flavor. The picture is my leftovers I brought home (should have just left it on the plate cause i know I’m not going to eat it🤦🏽‍♀️. Maybe I should’ve gotten breakfast food. And please for the love of God, stop writing on people’s bill, it’s so disrespectful to tell someone how much they should tip. Lucky my mom left $10. I will not be returning as there are so many more place to eat in the area.

I went there last night 1.25.2024 and ordered the chicken kabob… the food was literally not edible… I also ordered a side of string beans and they were ice cold straight out of the can… the chicken was too tough and very very very over cooked… as was the pilaf…. All of the vegetables was super soft… I called this afternoon to let the manager who I believe is also the owner of this his establishment know of the problem and was told that the food was good… I believe I was met with racism as they watched from the aisle as I used the restroom and did not give me the same treatment of the other customers who were not of the same race as myself… I asked for a refund and was denied for $30 worth of food that I could not eat… I offered to bring the food in so that they could see the problem.. by the time I got home I couldn’t bring the food back because the diner was closing as I left … do not support this establishment

I’m a regular at this diner because my kids like it and I usually have good experience's. Food is decent, place is clean, servers are on point with good attitudes, food comes out quick, etc. But this morning was a different story. My daughter had a friend sleep over and they asked if I could get take out from the diner. I called to order and all was good. Place was crowded and my wait for take out was only 10mins. I walked in about 15-20 mins after I ordered and the lady at the counter had a line of people paying their tab. No problem at all. I moved to the side while she took care of the line. While I was waiting a girl comes in with a bag and says to the women “I picked my order up a little while ago, and when I got home I opened it up and it was the wrong order. I ordered a Belgium waffle, etc etc, but I got (and she rattles off my order)”. The women takes the bag and motions to a sever to take care of getting the women her correct order. Meanwhile my order is sitting behind the counter, boxes open. I still hadn’t said anything, but I figured she was gonna trash that order since it went out the door and to someone else’s house and was opened, and was now cold and open on the counter. After another minute or so the line died down and I walked to the counter and said I was picking up takeout and gave her my name. She turned around, glanced at the open boxes on the counter, glanced at me and had no idea I had been there the whole time and proceeded to close up the boxes; put them back in the bag, tied the handles and put it in front of me on the counter. I kinda smirked in a “you’re kidding me, right?” kinda way, which she didn’t notice, and she turned around and went back to ringing people out. It was a crowded Sunday morning, so I stood there for a few mins waiting and then I just left. I threw the food in the trash. Chances are nothing was wrong with the food, but i don’t know who this women was, she could’ve gotten home, opened the order and got pissed it was wrong and spit on it for all I know. Once that order walks out the door, there should be a policy (similar to a supermarket with frozen food) that once it leaves the store it cannot be put back on the shelf no matter what, even if it’s still frozen when returned, for safety reasons. And the woman working the counter was one of the higher ups. I see her all the time managing servers, telling people what to do, etc. She’s either a manager, one of the owners wives, etc. Whatever her title, she knows better. It wasn’t some $12/hr kid. I know it’s not that big of a deal, but it completely turned me off. I had respect for the people and the cleanliness of the place and now I...

NOT RETURNING for a 3rd visit. Ate there about 3 months ago. (Choose to read negative reviews also, especially about the one racist manager etc etc) Some need more than an above average size portion of unseasoned food. Inconsistent experiences - 1st visit, food was decent though when you've been eating average food for awhile by circumstance you can mistake avg food for above avg. Food might come out so fast because of a microwave being used, horrible characteristic if true for a supposed "Fine Diner". Most waitresses are friendly and responsive and pleasant most of the time. Did not ask me how I want my eggs which is a usual standard for a great restaurant. 2nd visit - Did not ask me how I wanted my eggs, not a good trait of a "fine diner", i said nothing because i thought it would at least be a regular scramble or decent fold, it was neither, it looked like a thin flat yellow piece of excrement and tasted extrenely bland, plain, not well cooked and felt lazily. Cooks could be lazy because they only like or are only use to doing omelets, as everbody doesn't want an omelet. Diners should be standouts on breakfast food especially as they know breakfast people...
