Edited to reply to owner’s response: I have attached a photo of the room walls. I didn’t mean to offend the artist but it does appear like contact paper. Maybe the artist painted it on a poor foundation. In addition, we have done over 35 escape rooms and this one required a tremendous amount of hints from the guide. Two items did not work. We had to have the guide enter the room to fix one before we could proceed. The map…no.
We definitely spent more time wandering around clueless versus actually figuring out puzzles. We felt that almost every puzzle required the guide to chime in.
Original comments: Captured At Sea was disappointing. It was a very linear room. The entire team had to work one clue at a time. Two of the room's mechanisms didn't work. One of the room's clues was impossible and even after getting help it didn't make sense. The room itself was cheaply put together using what looked like contact paper on the walls and no decor to immerse you in the experience. We came prepared to do two rooms but left...
Read moreAs the coordinator of Summer Learning and Student Experiences, with Springfield Public Schools; I recently scheduled our Explore students to visit 417 Escape Artist. The feedback from our students and staff was absolutely fantastic.
The escape rooms were thoughtfully designed with age-appropriate puzzles and challenges, which encouraged critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration among the students.
The educational value embedded in this experience was top notch. The puzzles were not only engaging, but also required students to apply concepts from various subjects like math, logic, and history. This experience allowed students to collect their classroom knowledge to real-life scenarios.
417 Escape Artist provided a wonderful experience for our students. The memories created during our visit will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on their educational journey. We are grateful for the opportunity to engage in such an immersive and educational adventure. We look forward to continuing our partnership for...
Read moreI’ve been to many escape rooms and I won’t act like I’m a professional escape artist reviewer. But if I were then I’d be more brutal about this review. But as a person who knows what he likes, the room I had just wasn’t it. When I want a difficult challenge, I expect myself to at least a single hint. This room, “Deadly Seven” was the top ranked difficult room at this location and I was excited. Me and two others escaped the room in 40 minutes without the use of any hints. And there were maybe one or two head scratchers but ultimately, it felt like an amateur room. Another thing I expect is a pregame video to get the vibe right or even hidden doors to another room or area. To stretch the legs and change the scenery. I did not receive any of those thrills from this one. The description on the package made this one seem thrilling and scary, but the story line did not align right. Especially when the worker gives you keys and clues that we did not have to...
