Cardinal Nursery & Garden Center — Attraction in Springfield

I wanted to take a moment to give a shout out to one of my favorite new local businesses.. I tracked down Cardinal garden center after seeing a delivery of beautiful laurel plants arrive at my neighbor’s house while I was out on a walk. I immediately knew I wanted to buy my plants at Cardinal because they were of such obvious high quality. Not only do they have lovely plants, but the staff is helpful, knowledgeable and just basically awesome. I’m new to the northeast so they spent plenty of time discussing my new yard’s many landscaping needs and walking me through their inventory. They also have an excellent selection of pots—much better than the local big box stores. On my first visit they helped me choose two large planters for a pair of enormous Boston ferns along with drainage rocks and top-notch potting soil. I also purchased a gorgeous pair of mums for my front porch and a set of boxwoods to later replace the mums. On a recent visit, I found the most beautiful carving pumpkins and a couple of cute decorative ones. Have you watched the movie “”You’ve Got Mail.” A visit to Cardinal is like stopping by “”The Shop Around the Corner.” You receive plenty of personalized service from a knowledgeable staff.

We have shopped here for years and have always had a good experience UNTIL NOW! We ordered materials for delivery today. Driver left a message saying he would be at the house soon. We prepared, getting out the wheelbarrows and other equipment. Driver went to the wrong house, where no one was home. They claim they tried to call us from that house but our phone did not ring. The driver went back to the nursery and when we called to see about re-delivery an angry woman there told us this was our fault and they would no longer do business with us. She was as rude, obnoxious and insulting as any vendor we have ever dealt with. Forget it, and them. There are many quality nurseries around us who treat their customers...

I went here for some fruit plants. The staff were very helpful, took their time to explain everything and recommended specific plants. They are very patient if you are a newbie to gardening.
