My husband had an old, unpaid DUI ticket from 1974 in Chicago . He went to renew his 25+ year current State drivers license and was denied because of Illinois hold. We hired this firm in early 2021. Did loads of paperwork for out of State hearings. I called several times and was always told the ISOS was backed up because of the Pandemic. In late November, I was told the ISOS was changing the paperwork for 2022 and we’d have to start over. Forms would not be available until sometime in January. I actually spoke to a live person in the Springfield ISOS office who told me it was simpler now and heard one of the attorneys tell us to fire our attorneys and do it ourselves. I filed the forms and received a response they wanted copies of his residency and a form saying he wasn’t dependent on any substance. I couldn’t get an evaluation locally. I went with people that were recommended by the law firm. He did 10 hours of AA meetings via the internet. Cost $400. Upon completion they sent the paperwork to Rose at the law firm. I had told the people who did the evaluation that I wanted to complete the process. Somehow Rose got his evaluation and emailed the ISOS to ignore everything I had done and they were still handling the hearing. I received notification from her late on a Friday. Attorney cost $2,000. Finally it went through and we were told by Rose we couldn’t pay the fine and penalties until he got an SR22. SR22’s make auto insurance triple in price or more. I called the Springfield Driver’s License division and spoke to them. The gentleman looked up my husband’s information and said an SR22 wasn’t needed, there was only a $500 reinstatement fee. He told me if we were in Illinois he could walk in and pay and get his license immediately. I paid over the phone with a credit card plus $11.25 for CC fees . He was able to get his DL within a few days. I’m upset with the whole situation. The AA counselor should have sent us or ISOS the evaluation, Rose did not have our permission to tell them to ignore the 2022 forms I filed. I heard good things from the Springfield ISOS office about this law firm and how well they put packets together. But was also told I could finish it without paying the Firm any more money. We could have saved $2000. Most upset with failure to communicate with us and then having our petition negated without our consent. Felt like the counselors could be part of the law firm. They said no, but didn’t reply to any more calls or emails. What a racket. If you have a 40+ year old unpaid ticket in Illinois, download the reinstatement forms yourself. It might save you 15 months of aggravation and a few thousand dollars. ...

In 2012, I received a DUI and hired a local attorney to represent me throughout the proceedings. Having never been in trouble with the law before, I was largely unfamiliar with the court system. I briefly talked with that attorney once on the phone, then again in-person the morning of the court appearance at the courthouse. Nothing was explained to me aside from "don't worry, first time DUI offenders always get court supervision and a fine". Long story short, I plead guilty and the charge ended up in a conviction. As such, my license was not just suspended, it was revoked. I never had that attorney or anyone on his staff follow up with me.
Fast forward a couple years. I retained Mr. Harvatin to help with driver's license reinstatement. It was a completely different experience...in a good way. From the initial consultation to the final (and successful) hearing, Ted and his well-trained staff knew exactly what to do every step of the way. Everything was explained in a way that was easily understandable. Phone calls and emails were always responded to quickly.
I would definitely recommend Mr. Harvatin to anyone finding themselves in need of DUI or license...
Read moreOkay, first i want to start out as saying, yes I messed up and got two DUI, not one...TWO. even though I feel my trial was WACK, the second one was, I felt like just giving up i mean I could have asked for a mistrial, the officers got kicked out of my trial and we had to make a whole new date, and a whole new jury. and I still lost, I gave up and didn't trust the system, but then I met Ted H. and his office, changed everything for me even though the past 89 days..i told myself if I get denied its just how its gonna be, its my luck. BUT today I got the call saying I was approved for my Permit, I cried, I was waiting for them to call back and say just kidding or they called the wrong person, but that's not what happens when you have a lawyer who actually cares not only about your case but about you and well being as well. I now will never make the mistakes I made this is giving me and mainly my daughter a new chance to better ourselves. I cannot thank you enough, I will be there when I'm able to reinstate for full privileges. Take it from me don't give up, just get the Lawyer who knows what he's doing and one that isn't just doing it for money and job, he takes his job serious and is amazing at it.
thank you so much seriously, thank...
