Update on 2023/09/22: Museum says that they sent the email before replying my review. However, I didn't receive any email so far. I checked my spam box but I still didn't see any. Please confirm you sent to the right email address.

The house itself is beautiful and amazing, it definitely worth the time for a walk. However, this is the worst tour ever in my life time.

We went there in the afternoon, the tour guide we had today is not doing his job. He is disrespectful, during the tour he is making phone calls or trying to find other workers in the museum. In my opinion, as a tour guide you should focus on your visitors unless some emergency happened.

Every room we went he is just saying: oh, here is the kitchen of the house, and here is the bedroom. Of course we know is a kitchen, and bedroom! We have EYES! you should be telling us the story behind the scenes or the history or culture we should learn. However, the worse part came after he finally found someone to talk to in the museum. They asked us where we come from and said that we are all Chinese. Not every Asian is Chinese! We feel depressed and uncomfortable with the conversation. We wouldn't come back again since they don't think we understand any English and know how to appreciate the...

Our family and a very dear family friend just took a tour of the Campbell House Museum, and we absolutely loved the experience. In fact, as long-time lovers of history, we can’t think of a better tour we’ve gotten of a historic place than the one that Campbell House’s Executive Director, Andy Hahn, gave us! Andy truly transported us back to mid-and-late 19th century America, giving us a rich and vivid understanding of the neighborhood, the larger economic context, family and social life, the nature of entertainment in that time period, the health struggles of people regardless of class, and the considerable contrasts in the lives of the upper class and working class, particularly during the Gilded Age. Andy fielded a great breadth of questions from us, and he drew on his enormous wealth of knowledge to answer our questions with clarity, warmth, and total engagement. Andy was incredibly generous with his time, and we are truly grateful. We also want to express our appreciation to Operations Manager Zoe Luna Vega for arranging the tour and for her warmth. Please definitely make time to visit this nationally significant, historically faithful gem of 19th century America! Sincerely, the...

Campbell House is a true gem, showcasing stunning rooms adorned with historically preserved furnishings that have only grown more incredible with time. Stepping inside feels like entering a meticulously restored time machine, whisking you back 125 years. Upon arrival, Haley warmly greeted us for an impromptu tour, though I'd suggest booking tickets ahead to help the organization schedule resources. As a volunteer docent, Haley's passion shone through as she expertly shared insights into the house's rich history and its journey from the family that owned and lived there to the hands of Yale University, because one of the children was a graduate, to a dedicated private historical group in 1945. The ongoing dedication of generations is palpable in every detail.

Recent renovations have seamlessly integrated modern comforts, including an elevator (though we opted for the stairs), ensuring a comfortable visit. The gift shop delights with a curated selection of thoughtful items, and the entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Campbell House has firmly secured a place in my top 5 recommendations for St. Louis visitors, especially those with a passion for antiques,...

Stellar house remaining from the mid-1800s - that is the only remnant of the gorgeous homes from the era from a time when this was where the "well-heeled" of St. Louis lived. One gets a guided tour that takes about an hour; you pay at the end. The people who run the tours are volunteers and passionate about what they do. For much of the 2nd half of the 19th century - this was THE place to be in town if you had money and were "in society". Because of some quirks to this family, as all the other fancy houses fell into disrepair and were demolished as the wealthy of St. Louis moved west, this one ended up getting preserved. 90%+ of the furniture is original! We saw nearly every room while learning about the family and the era.

One of my favorite places in the city of St. Louis. Amazing museum filled with history and impressive artifacts. The staff is amazing: extremely knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and they love to share everything they know about the unique history of this one-of-a-kind place. I highly recommend learning about the history of the Campbell House museum and Campbell family on their website or by visiting the museum for yourself.
