My husband & I stayed at the Red Lion St Louis location Saturday, Sept 15th and Sunday, Sept 16th. We have stayed here before and love the location, as it is in walking distance to Busch Stadium. In entering the elevator area off of the parking garage on 3rd floor, there were nasty spills and garbage before entering the elevator. The elevator itself was very dirty and stale smelling. Check in was pretty normal. As we proceeded to our room, we noticed the lack of care to the entire property. Numerous light bulbs were out, carpets were stained, torn and wrinkled terribly and a total trip hazard in many areas. As we entered our room, 714, there was a smell of old cigarettes. We were in need of ice from the vending machine that was conveniently out of order, and so was the vending machine, so my husband had to make his way back down to a bar area for ice. Just what he wanted to do after being on the road 7 hours. The bar didn't have an ice bucket liner, so used a grocery sack.....?? Sunday morning we get up to find some breakfast and I couldn't remember if the breakfast was part of our hotel package, but entered the bistro, where there were no menus, no signs of prices etc. We were told to help ourselves to breakfast and we did assuming it was a continental breakfast. I ate 2 pieces of bacon, some scrambled eggs and a piece of ham. We then received a bill for $35.00. #1, for what was offered, that is an outrageous amount of money and #2, why weren't we shown menus or told, "our buffet today is $??? What a disappointment. Monday morning we are rounding up to leave and as I always do, I round up all bedding, linens, garbage etc and clean the room. As I uncovered our bedding is when I found a very dirty mattress protector and a stain, the size of a small human on our mattress. I was literally ill from the sight. There were other stains as well, but the body sized one got to me. When we went to check out we expressed our issues to the excuse that we WILL BE renovating soon. As a property manager, I explained that that is no reason to neglect all maintenance issues and let all go to hell. We were then told we owed an additional fee of $50 for parking, which we had been told it was free while staying at the hotel and we have not paid for parking there in the past. Needless to say, this was a miserable stay and will not be back after spending city prices for an under-average excuse of a hotel. Doug & Kelly Mathis

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times in the last three years when it was a Red Lion hotel. It was always nice, clean and the room were spacious suites with the bedroom separate from a living room area which we always enjoyed. This past weekend we booked our stay and the hotel has changed hands and is now an Oyo Hotel. Its unbelievable how being shut down for a few months takes a toll on the quality, cleanliness and overall decency of the of the place. The curtains and sheers in the room are ripped and stained, there is no smoke alarm, and the worst part-there are fruit flies buzzing around in our room. YUCK!!!!! The outdoor "city room" that used to have nice outdoor seating is empty, the pool is empty, there really are no amenities left to draw you into the hotel at all. Then comes the price on the room. We booked through booking.com at a rate of $89 for 3 nights. And then called the front desk to extend our stay for another night since we overslept and there was no way we would make it out of the room in the ten min allotted by the rude woman at the front desk that threatened us with charging another night if we werent out in time. Rather than cause a problem we just told them to book it. Then we get an email regarding our charges from our credit card company. The Oyo Hotel literally went in and changed the final receipt total we have proof and receipt from through booking.com to a rate of $120 per night. The $100 deposit for the room was then doubled as a thanks to us for staying the fourth night. So as it sits we have a final bill for $680 plus tax for a room that should have a total bill of $460 with a $100 of that being a deposit that should be refunded. They have overcharged us by $30 per night. I guess this is the only way for them to pay their bills because I'm almost sure we are one of maybe five rooms in the entire place that have been rented the entire time we have been here. So, one out of five stars that I will only change to a two IF they adjust the fees as they should tomorrow morning when the manager will be in for us to speak with. The photos don't even touch how dark, dingy and disgusting the overall appearance of the room is and the number of stains in the carpet. I am so truly disappointed that I felt threatened and forced into booking other night but even if I hadnt okayed it, they were going to charge us for it simply because we needed more than ten min to vacate the room.

This was the worst place I've stayed at in the many years I've been traveling. We stayed here about 2 months ago. The pictures online for the hotel are very deceiving. The 2 worst parts of the stay was the room smelling like smoke and the air conditioning not working. The staff was very friendly and provided me a key to move my family to a new room when I advised of the smoke smell. Luckily I stopped by the new room before grabbing everyone because the new room smelled more strongly of smoke than the first. It was late and we had been on the road all day so I opted to stay in the original room. The room felt hot and humid so I set the air but nothing changed. When I checked the thermostat an hour or so later, it showed the temperature had gone up 2 degrees. My kids were sleeping so calling to switch rooms wasn't an option and I was tired as well. There were stains on the walls, couch, carpets and in the bathroom. The linen was dingy. Holes in the carpet in the hallway and room. Even our roll of toilet paper had a gross spot through the roll of water (hopefully it was water!) There was only ONE towel for us to use also. Construction out front made navigating in and out of the building a little tricky. We were told there was a box to drop the key in for the parking garage but I didn't see it so I had to pull up front and go inside to drop it off. We luckily only had to stay 1 night before we hit the road again. Do yourself a favor and book another hotel.

Bad smells and extremely dirty hotel. Like I like to budget travel and this was too much for me. The hall ways had a variation of stains, cigarette butts, and even random pills on almost every level. I know because the vending machine were broken on every single level and I had to keep searching so I could get some water. The hotel had no complimentary water but that doesn’t even matter compared to how bad everything else was. The room smelled so bad, we also woke up with stuffy noses and watery eyes so I was thinking maybe it was a mold smell. There was an actual blood stain on the chair at the desk in the room. Brown and grey dirt stains on the sofa (we had to lay towels down to sit) and huge crusty white stains on the carpet next to the beds. Yeah. Pretty gross. The elevators also would randomly stop working so I’d have to take my small kids up the stairs to get in the room on the 8th level. The only decent part of this hotel was the pool, it was a little dirty and the room was about 95 degrees but the water was kinda nice. The sun deck over looking the city could have been nice especially at night but it was very dirty and the string lights didn’t even work. Speaking of lights there was one in the hotel room that was working as a strobe light basically. I told the front desk and they said “yeah that happens”. I asked the other hotel guests how their rooms were when I saw them in the hallways and they said very dirty with a weird smell. Also there is a no valet parking if that’s something that’s important to you. Hadn’t been for two years apparently, that’s what the “security” guard shouted across the main lobby to me. 0/10 this is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Hotel workers were terrible. Never saw anyone cleaning or any janitors with carts. You would be better off going to Another hotel and spending the extra $50 per night. I took pictures, really wish I could share them on here, maybe when I click next it will let me post them. I feel very lied to by Expedia and orbitz, they definitely pay for photoshopped room pictures and good reviews because that was...
