I've never experienced anything as unbelievable as to what happened at this hotel. I travel regularly as the owner of two companies and this was my first time staying at an Omni Hotel. After a long week of travel, my partner met me to see the gateway arch and explore the city museum, two local attractions.
When we got back to our room that night, we were in shock. Our room, 208, was directly above the bar that had music louder than a dance club. This was at 11:30 at night. We decided to relax thinking they certainly could not go past midnight. They did. I called the front desk and they did not answer, probably because they knew why I was calling. I called again and the staff member picked up...you could hear the music clear as day though the handset. I asked her when the music would be shut down as we needed to sleep (It was now 12:05 AM), she told us they were going until 1:00. I asked if there was anything they could do as we were very tired, like move us to a different room, and she said no...but she would leave a note for the manager.
We continued to listen to music that was conversation level in our room with lyrics that were derogatory to African Americans and the LGBT community and a song about something called truffle butter that comes from lady parts. We were both in shock that the hotel would allow such explicit music to be played in an open lobby area at 12:30 at night - especially when it could be heard clearly on the 2nd floor. It left us wide awake wondering what they meant by things like truffle butter - quite disturbing as we are a gay couple.
Finally at 12:50 they shut down the music, and our room became peaceful - we had no other complaints about the room besides the fact that we could not sleep until 1:00 AM.
We were taken aback when in the morning they slipped the hotel bill under our door without even an acknowledgement of what had happened overnight. Surely I thought to myself that the manager at the front desk was ready to rectify the situation. When I went to check out he said the total and told us to have a good day. I told him that we had a terrible night in the room (208) and told him a note was left for the manager to discuss with us in the morning. He told us he was the manager and wasn't aware. We explained what happened and he told us they would take off our parking for the night. That seemed like a pittance given that from 10 PM on most hotels will enforce a noise ordnance and throw guests out that do not comply. Our only option was to lay awake in our bed and listen to the disgusting lyrics in our room, some of which were highly offensive to a gay couple. I told him I would not have paid anything for the room or stayed at the hotel had I known this would have been our experience and he said, "I'm sorry for the inconvenience."
We left infuriated at the situation and how poor customer service is at the Omni Majestic Hotel and that they felt free parking justifies keeping guests up until 1:00 AM without any prior notice. Certainly we will never be staying in this hotel again, and it brings into question the Omni brand being that this was our...
Read moreWe booked a room at the hotel majestic in St. Louis, last minute, to spend the evening celebrating a birthday. We checked in a little before 10pm and we were very disappointed, to say the least. We would not expect such poor accommodations from the Omni brand. The lobby ceiling had a large hole in it and we noticed several small flaws in the structure that may be considered hazardous, such as a poorly patched up area around an electrical outlet near the front desk. We left at 10:30pm to make our reservations at a nearby establishment and did not return to the hotel until 1:20am. We ended up leaving around 3:15am, due to the discomfort caused by the hotel environment. Our room did not feel secured for our safety because the lock provided was one that should be used on the interior of a home, with a cheaply made chain lock for “added security.” A key card lock was installed on some of the rooms - but not on ours. There was a flesh colored substance frozen into the back of the mini fridge and the toilet would not stop running all evening, even after we attempted to “jiggle the handle.” The bedding appeared to be clean, but we did not attempt to unmake the bed and take our chances. The building seems to have the potential to be a nicely restored “20th century boutique hotel,” but the restoration needs to be done in order for this to be true. The furniture in our room was very worn and the claim that the room is a “suite” is highly comical; It was a standard room with a king size bed. The bed did however seem very likely to have the ability to provide a great night’s rest - had we felt comfortable enough to sleep in it. The elevators were very vintage and I enjoyed the ride up while enjoying “elevator music.” I appreciated the old time feel - despite the accompanying claustrophobic ambiance. However, our ride back down proved to be quite frightening. The elevator started its decent from the 6th floor, made a loud pop, and proceeded to fall to the 4th floor where it abruptly stopped. We suppressed our immediate terror and were able to open the door and exit the ancient mechanism which claimed to be a functioning elevator. We opted to use the stairs the remainder of our short stay, to ensure our safety. Upon our premature checkout, the staff seemed less than surprised at the happenings during our stay. Their customer service was very pleasant and welcoming; we have zero complaints regarding the quality of our onsite customer service interactions. However, we expected above average accommodations from an establishment parented by the...
Read moreTHIS IS NOT A 4-STAR HOTEL!!! I stayed here in November of 2018, I have uploaded photos because the ones present on Google show the OMNI MAJESTIC, these are no longer truthful!!!! This is a severely outdated hotel very dimly lit (probably on purpose to hide the dirty conditions)
Furniture is very old and worn out. My mattress creaked when I would roll over and was uncomfortable. The lobby looked like it was abandoned, just a few chairs and empty room otherwise. The floors throughout looked old, outdated and in need of repair/replacement.
Bathroom had paint on the floor tiles and what looks like minor construction mess but should have been cleaned up, there were also stains on the carpet near the bathroom.
The bed linens were clean but a far cry from a normal 4 star hotel - morel like 2 star. The pillows were cheap and lumpy, NO HD Television service, The TV was HD capable but the cable service was analog, again - most people expect digital service when staying at a 4 star hotel.
Curtains would not close all the way, vents had dust and dirt on the grill covers, curtains had this same dust on them as well. The desk chair was almost a joke, It was worn all the way down and needed to be replaced. The other chairs in the room were very worn out and uncomfortable.
This entire hotel was dark and dimly lit, there was also a musty smell about the entire place. They had approximately 15 parking spaces for a large hotel with no valet service at all - NOT TYPICAL of a 4 star -
THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL I have stayed at in a while, especially since it was advertised at a 4 Star, this is not truthful in advertising! I would have left the hotel but I stayed there and checked in close to 10 pm and it was snowing like crazy (6-8") I had already paid for parking (across the street in a public lot since their 15 spaces were full. The hotel states that it is under construction, but my opinion is poorly managed and poorly maintained, I have stayed at many hotels that were under renovation but typically it is barely noticed. This hotel is in bad need of an entire gut job and furniture upgrade.
The only somewhat redeeming quality is that the staff at the front desk was very...
