Ok, so I like to get off the beaten path and check out the local flora and fauna. My brother in law suggested this place for its iconic history and great food. This place is popular and located in an ideal place as it is right across from the Fox theater. We were in town for the Usher Concert, so why not? I heard that there is normally a line out the door, but this time, we were able to walk right in. Upon entering, you are greeted with a narrow and uninviting interior with dark areas where the lights have been turned off and tables and chairs stacked, denoting that these areas are closed for some reason. Tables and booths were aligned in the typical order, and the decor was definitely an afterthought. Think Mel's dinner but in a dank dungeon. You seat yourself. Let me tell you, this place is designed to get you in and out. After walking in, the pressure is amped up as you quickly need to make your selection because the staff will yell ""NEXT"!! You need to decide and decide NOW, then hurry up and grab your desert. The desert options consisted of a variety of cakes and pies, which I thought were very tasty. You also have the option of getting a salad. I felt rushed. I understand this place is designed for volume business. Get in and get out! Steaks, onions, and potatoes are prepared in an efficient real-time machine like process that spits out average tasting food like a Toyota Prius rolling off the assembly line. Good, but not great. It will get you to your destination. The yelling continued, urging me to decide on fries or baked potato or some other side. Temperatures were raised, and brows furled. People were hungry. The urgency was high, and decisions needed to be made. I reacted quickly and was relieved to finally pay $49.00 for my wife and I. I ordered the Ribye medium with fries. They gave me a baked potato instead. No harm, no foul. The Ribye was thinly cut and cooked with the bludgeoning delicacy that reminded me of Tyson v Berbick. It was tough, but after a few jaw grinding rounds , the fight was over. The baked potato had those hard, undercooked elements that you don't like, but you accept because of your hunger. I was starving so I can't say that I didn't like it. It's a good spot for...
Read moreYesterday was my first time visiting this establishment. I decided to call in my order. The phone call went well. The young lady was very professional. Unfortunately when I walked in it was chaotic! There was a line for food, people waiting on orders they'd already placed. Not sure which line to go to I walked to the end register. I explained I had a call in order and was told very rudely by an older woman "That's the line over there!" It's finally my turn, order not ready of course. I didnt have to wait much longer thankfully. I ordered the 16oz porterhouse (med-well) with baked potato and salad. I ended up asking the older woman for steak sauce....she tells me EVERYTHING is already in the bag. I get home only to discover I never got butter for the potato. And my steak???? I don't how to describe how it was cooked but to sum it up this was a pure waste of my hard earned money. The steak was definitely tough....there was more pink on the inside than there should have been ...certain parts were actually well done ...I mean I just didn't get it đ. Living here 14yrs I'd always wanted to try this place but it's always so busy, unfortunately this experience was enough for me not to return. Side note....as I was waiting, other people were treated rudely especially the guy that returned the dirty silverware and asked for plastic. Now why would anyone have an attitude about that? Why would you be treated rudely because you point out a sanitation problem after all the money you just spent? I won't be returning nor will I ever...
Read moreThis was my first time going to the best steak house. The best way for me to explain my experience is to refer to the Seinfeld episode in the soup shop(those of you who have been there and seen the episode are laughing right now NEEXXXTTTT) let me start off by saying I was not aware of their little rules and codes. So I entered the restaurant walked around got in line and started to look at the menu board. As I said this was my first time there ...as the line started to move up I was still deciding what I wanted the line started to grow behind me I heard a guy saying next... next... next I really didn't pay any mind but by the time I made it up to the order spot maybe five people behind me had already placed their order. People were laughing, I was confused and I was trying to figure out what was going on. As I saw the 5th person behind me ordering I asked the guy at the front where I'm standing now can I put my order in he rudely said yes and told me to step aside. I asked can I have some of the chopped up potatoes he said tip potatoes I said sure is that what they're called he said yes and asked me to tip.. again I was confused he pointed to a tip jar and said tip. So after that bit of confusing mess and tipping on top of having to pay for my meal I sat down. The food was okay but that experience was priceless.
So short version if you're going to the best steakhouse and you want tip potatoes please have cash to tip they're not named that for no reason... know what you want before you get in line and everything should go...
