What a wonderful experience! Having been to Chicago many times, I decided to take part in sights today by visiting the Field House Museum. The exhibits were amazing! I particularly enjoyed the pyramids of Egypt. Seeing how people were mummified brought a feeling of anxiety as I pondered what the individual was feeling while being wrapped and put in storage for the rest of their lives. Don’t worry! Though the mummy seems like it will move, it never did.Lol. All the animals in the museum seemed so real! There were so many different species that caught my eyes. Read moreNew to the area, so called ahead from Chesterfield, west of the city to inquire if they were open- was told yes, then asked about parking and was told even though there was a game, they had spaces for museum guests. After fighting game traffic to get there, trying to find the right parking lot, getting in and only after paying I was informed the house was closed- the reason I came and which I called ahead about!! The guided part of the tour was wonderful and it is very apparent the research and great care that has gone into this marvelous museum. The furnishings just gorgeous and many of them original to the home and Fields family. The quilt exhibit from the 1800's was amazing. It is well worth your time to visit this historic home, Learn abaut Eugene Fields and his family and meet the staff who are warm, welcoming, and well informed.
