Having lived there for over a year and a half, I can encourage anyone who would like to live in an environment that is safe and run professionally, this is not the place for you. Within two months of moving in I was bit and punctured by a fellow tenants dog, on property, to which management responded by giving me a misplaced lecture on āproper dog ownershipā when it was their job to protect paying residents from aggressive dogs. Even after having to waste my time filing animal control reports, they refused to create a safe environment going forward, leaving myself having to suddenly run across 6 lanes of traffic to avoid said aggressive dogs, almost on a daily basis.
In addition, it seems they have a propensity to value the opinions of unhinged staff that has been fired and still lives on property than to keep their paying tenants comfortable or happy. I was verbally attacked and had expletives screamed at me for upwards of 5 minutes, completely unprovoked, by an unstable member of their team who had recently been fired but still lived on property, and when this was reported to upper management with video footage (and was done on property again also caught on camera), management responded by then slighting me at every later interaction until I finally decided I wouldnāt be renewing due to the hostile environment created by this former staff member who almost every single other tenant id spoken with also had an issue.
I paid to be able to attend on site gatherings but rather than be able to enjoy these I was more concerned whether I was going to be screamed at once again when management made it clear, friends were more important than doing their job.
Even on the day of my move out, where legally you are permitted to be in the space for the duration of your lease (11:59pm on the last day of your lease) I was called upwards of 8 times being threatened that if I didnāt remove all of my belongings by 4:40pm I would be monetarily penalized as āmaintenance doesnāt work on sundays, finishes their day at 5, and wants to do the inspection before thenā. It took me offering to call the police to have them reiterate that legally Iād paid to be there until the end of day and would not be paying for their laziness and unprofessionalism for them finally to agree that Iād be able to inconvenience myself with the inspection Monday without penalty (even though I was meant to be out of town).
Beyond all this, Iād say I had a fine living experience. Physically, the unit was great despite my door being broken for the duration of my lease and was never properly fixed. But in terms of environment, most of the kind people Iād enjoyed getting to know during my time there also felt a drastic shift in tone and many are gone as well or on their way out. Even several staff couldnāt help themselves but note that the community had āgone down hillā or in regards to the unstable former staff āimagine having to work with herā. Other local residents often said once finding out Urby was where I lived, āoh, those people are so rudeā referring to both stuff and tenants. So, long story long, if youād like to live in an environment where you yourself and those around you are treated decently and professionally, this likely isnāt the place for you. If youāre looking to move for convenience, a physically appealing place and decent amenities, then this would be a great fit, so long as your safety never becomes a concern, as without a doubt you will not receive the response youād expect, especially with how...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter 14 months and super excited about moving here from NYC it's a major disappointment don't make a mistake! On the surface it looks like a progressive building but real world it reads...alarms being pulled every other month without purpose, overcrowded pool and no one monitoring pool guest or noise, horrible construction with noise from above and below, apartment on ground floor summer or winter it's not energy efficient the monthly bill was always $200, packages not being logged, Amazon lockers delayed for no reason, dogs peeing and popping in main entrances and watch your car in the garage filled with screws and construction debris. Than on the way out after being on time paying and diligent tenants it gets worse...the management team and accounting makes a money grab without explanation, miscalculation on final rent month after you move out, erroneous charges not disclosed on move out walkthrough for paint and normal wear and tear, holding your deposit past the 30 days by law. The personnel in the front office don't know how to run a business balanced with empathy and purpose and no flexibility to work with you in the end or communicate effectively. There are a few good people working the front desk and the maintenance team but they are limited by management. Lesson learned, we moved out and living in nearby true luxury building with full amenities, much happier. You have a choice make an informed one. They have tons of open units because they overbuilt the complex and it shows in the bad decisions made every day. If you have high standards and expect customer driven culture it's not here. As of this post, still waiting for Rosa assistant property manager to address move out concerns. Hope this is read by senior management at The Urby!
Update 9/6: Unfortunately the Urby doesn't honor CT requirements to return security deposit within 30 days and now we are filing a formal complaint with CT Department of Banking to address the penalty up 2x our security deposit. Casey the GM, was unwilling to address this without going to the next level of complaint hearing. Don't rent here it's an example of how management isn't customer driven and not taking accountability for her...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy experience at Urby has been great! Starting from the exceptional architectural design the whole apartment community has been conceived to provide the best place to live in a vibrant and enjoyable ambiance. As for me, being someone who appreciates good architecture, I think Urby buildings have enriched downtown Stamford providing the perfect blend to create a horizontal-vertical balance in an area surrounded by high-rise edifices; the welcome-home faƧade entices first to come in and inquire and what happens then there is no need to be told. The apartments are energy efficient keeping up with the weather minimizing power consumption; their floor plans allow to maximize space and keep a well-organized living space. The units are pleasant; harsh winter days light coming through the huge windows fills the entire room with good vibes and during summertime the big courtyard with bench seats resembles a full-size park with its well-trimmed bushes all around. On the other hand Urbyās team of professionals are unique; they take the time to listen and you can expect the best from them in a timely manner. Just when I moved-in an assigned parking spot I wanted was not available and I took another one instead; for me was not an issue but did not notice Rosa -Move coordinator- was paying too close attention to it; a couple of months later it took me by surprise when she let me know the parking spot I wanted was now available and reserved for me. The concierge service is phenomenal, mostly I have shared with Kenyetta and Bella needless to mention that there is always someone available with a warm and positive attitude. Management is easily approachable if you ever had a need to reach them, Dylan -Property administrator- has helped me and even the property manager, Dan, contacted me then to follow up. The team members from whom I have not had the chance to directly exchange with yet; seeing how well the community operates, I can tell they also excel in their assignments. āLife at Urby is like living in a five-star hotelā; not my own words but I have allowed myself to borrow them from a friend who came to visit me.
Thanks to you...
