I drove 72 miles to see if this store could help me find a pair of running shoes. The staff was friendly and measured my feet to get my size. They then analyzed my stride and walking style and assisted me in selecting a the correct style of shoe that would best suit my needs. I had such a good experience with the staff who helped me with my shoes, that I ended up buying a pair of work boots while I was there.
Again, same routine. The staff inquired about my profession, identified my needs and set me up with a boot that was designed for my line of work.
Finally I stopped to see if they had any work boot socks. They unfortunately did not have what I needed in my size. Completely understandable with the supply chain issues that are happening. What they did do though, was offer to order the socks in for me. I anticipated them to show up in a few weeks when they came back in stock. Boy was I wrong.
4 days later the items show up on my front door shipped to my home. I couldn't be happier with my experience at Shippy Shoes. This will be the only place I buy footwear in the future. Excellent customer service and knowledgeable staff. We need more great local small businesses like these. Keep up...
Read moreThe customer service is awful. I put on my shoes and went home. Not an hour later I noticed a tear on the side of my shoe. I went back in to see if there was something someone can do, but immediately the woman behind the register jumped to the defense and started using phrases like, "Well it's like when you scratch a new car. The dealer won't take it back! I don't know what you did, but you must have done something. We wouldn't sell you a shoe like this. We can help you repair it, but there's no way we're going to take something back that you ripped." "Do you have a dog? Is your dog trained not to chew on your shoes?"
I was immediately put off. I talked to the owner of the store and her response was "We're just used to people yelling at us, so our employees go on the defense for that reason."
I'm sorry, but you never treat the customer like a delinquent right off the bat. I came in with complete understanding that this could have been anything and I got attacked.
The customer service is horrible, the shoes are over-priced, and I will not only never come back here, but I would discourage anyone I cared about...
Read moreI live in Boston and when I come to WI I stay with my sister in Stevens Point. She moved to the area about 5 years ago and that's when I discovered Shippy Shoes. I purposely do not purchase shoes throughout the year.....because Shippy is now part of my itinerary while visiting Wisconsin.
The whole experience is nostalgic; it reminds me of my childhood days in the early 70's; going to pick out my Buster Browns at the local shoe store where the staff was super polite & always treated me like I was family. That's how Shippy Shoes staff has always been. That along with the high quality shoes they carry will always ensure my return.
Thank you Shippy! (Want to open a store on the...
