Far Out Fishing Charters — Attraction in Stock Island

If you plan to fish in Key West, look no further than Far Out Charters. I'm really glad we were pointed to this charter when we were first booking our trip. My brother in law and I fished with Far Out twice in mid Dec 2020. Both trips were huge successes bringing home fish. On the 2nd day, we got 7 big Wahoo in the boat and could've possibly had more if it hadn't been for a bad storm. Chris and Kyle will put you on the fish and know when to pivot when it's slow. I can go on and on about how great the fishing was but the greatest attribute about Far Out is their professionalism and class. Our Key West trip /fishing was all planned around saying goodbye to my father who passed away earlier in the year. We wanted to spread his ashes in the ocean after a day of fishing. Chris helped us with the planning and took us out to a beautiful location. As emotional as the event was; it was better than we could have ever hoped for. was really excited to go on this trip when we booked with the owner, we flew in the morning of on a private charter plane after all the great reviews and instagram videos we saw including they had a new boat. Show up to the dock text the caption and no one ever responded. some kid shows up on a old boat and said he was our charter by himself with no mate. I will say he was very nice but was cleary a little over his head and very disorganized he asked my father in law to drive the boat and was yelling at him because he was having trouble driving the boat so he could catch bait..took about 1.5 hours I would think for $1200 this would be done ahead of time. Booked a charter with Cpt Kyle for July 3rd. Boat was super clean and well maintained. Kyle was a pretty cool guy for the most part. We felt like after we payed him he didn’t really want anything to do with us. We booked 2 charters but headed in early on our 2nd due to sickness and seemed like as soon as we zelle’d over the money for the last one he didn’t seem to care about us interacting with him. The fishing wasn’t that great, probably went to 5-8 different spots and we only caught 2 fish, a shark and Cuda, we got hooked up maybe 4-5 times (not including the mangrove snapper spawn). One of those times I got hooked onto a big pompano I thought and since we were over a shipwreck I was trying to keep him from pulling to much line. Fought him for about 5 min then Kyle told me to let him run, as soon as I let him run he went under the wreck and cut the line. Bad judgment I thought, but I don’t know, is what it is.
