Vermont has some of the very best examples what life can be like in the United States. This supermarket is a nexus of these things. At Commodities, you will see the foodstuffs developed by local Vermonters and nationwide chains alike. These foods are of a higher quality when compared to other places. Of course, the price is going to be higher as a result of that. But, when you think about food and the way we eat it, is it something you consider an investment for your body, or just a short term solution for your hunger? This is an interesting philosophical debate that is best done after two people have eaten a little bit, preferably from Vermont. The store is smaller than a traditional organic grocer in an urban setting, but that is because the population density of Vermont is a bit lighter. However, that does not hinder selection. There were plenty of options, so plan on going there and spending a bit of time looking up above to the top of the aisles, and down below where your feet are. Take your time because you might miss out! At Commodities, you see the passions of the Vermont farmer. I'm glad I was able to visit this place!

Good location, lots of organic and natural options. In august 2021, they had quite a few empty shelves of produce, but maybe it’s just shortages around the country?

An amazing selection of stuff you can't get elsewhere -- everything. The local cheese and dairy products are great, as is this produce. And the beer fridge(s), too!

I keep shopping here less & less, do to eliminating products from the store. Mocha Java coffee beans were absent for months & months... even though Artisan Coffee company is located not far away in Waterbury. Andalou Roses skin care products... Greg said would reorder again after summer sun block products were gone. Still not on shelves. (Last summer 2022) Makes me sad to not be able to support our local store.šŸ˜” I now have to shop in other towns for the same products". I'll keep "trying" to support Commodities as it's great to have a "healthier food" store here in Stowe. Excited to know they are building a bigger store, hopefully with more choices and...

We shopped here during our weekend getaway to Stowe. We found all our favorite food to feed our entire family including kombucha, fruit roll ups, delicious steak and an excellent array of fresh produce.

Oh and did I mention beer and wine? Yes, they have an incredible selection of local beers and curated wines. I sampled Von Trapp Helles Lager, Upper Pass First Drop IPA and Focal Banger. My fave was the First Drop IPA.

It's places like this that make Stowe even more special than it already...
