Disappointed, this used to be a good place where as an actual collector and person looking to open Pokemon product, you could put your name down on a list for 1 of any given products and they would call you if they had any available. This was a nice and fair way to get products into the hands of real fans. Well it appears their greed has overcome customer satisfaction. They are selling brand new released product for over double the MSRP pricing that big box stores charge. I understand you don't want to sell product only for scalpers to turn around and sell it for twice as much, but you also have the option of taking the approach that other good hearted shops are which is if you want to purchase at MSRP pricing, they remove or cut the plastic wrap to prevent reselling. If you refuse to have the product opened at time of sale, then you get charged the scalpers price. This is a fair way to do it. Unfortunately yet another small business I hope to see fail when Pokemon targets the greed of these small shops and the distribution that supplies them. Heard plans of Pokemon funneling the majority of products to stores that are required to sell at MSRP pricing, let's hope that...
Read moreI have been shopping at I'm Board since literally day 1 of the Middleton store being opened. Bryan has, until recently, been a very welcoming shop owner and did a lot to grow the board game community in the Madison area. I have been more than happy to pay MSRP for games and accessories, knowing that it was helping to keep him in business.
Not anymore. Now more than ever, board gaming should be a bastion of inclusion and familiarity. Rather than continuing to champion those values, Bryan has begun instituting a policy that requires people to pay to use the game room and asking then to only play games they purchased at his stores. Something that is unheard of at other hobby stores in the area. Rather than inviting in people and allowing them somewhere to have fun and relax a bit, somewhere they can ignore the terrible things happening in the world right now, if only for a few hours; he has instead begun enforcing a discriminatory pay gate.
I feel ashamed now for having recommended his store to so many others for so long, and absolutely will...
Read moreI had purchased a new game a few months ago. I recently opened the game to realize that I was missing a piece. I went back with the game, no receipt, opened box, and pleaded my case that I was missing this piece fearful that they wouldn't believe me. The lady working had informed me that I would need to go through the manufacturer of the game and to do so I would need to create an account. Then immediately after, she went and grabbed the same game off the shelf, opened it, gave me the piece I was missing, and stated that she would go through the manufacturer herself on behalf of the store. That was very kind and unexpected, as I assumed I would be leaving empty handed. I have shopped here many times, each time the staff have proven themselves knowledgeable and friendly. Will continue...
