This public beach pleasantly surprised me. It is clean, not crowded (of course it's a weekday and not Spring Break yet). Absolutely beautiful sapphire and emerald waters. I walked up and down with my feet in the surf. I stopped by the Newport Fishing Pier and had a drink at the restaurant there (shoes are required at the restaurant and on the pier). I caught a huge fish (10 inches possible) while i was bathing in the water. And while i was there, the purple flag (jellyfish warning) was out. Read moreCONS: Beach had rotten eggs smell. Sand has larger bits and is flattened out so feels and looks different to more southern beaches. Too much small trash. PROS: Not crowded after 6pm. Great eateries nearby. Many guys fishing off the end of the pier. Million dollar luxury condo backdrop. Less tourists. Clear aqua water. Many Europeans with their families....
