Hmmm, interesting to see other reviews praising this individual Vaijanti for her service. Hope my bf shared the right name with me.
So, here is how it went with my bf who went to Sunnyvale ICICI location for opening an account in India. He said that Vaijanti (who claimed to be a local hire in US for ICICI Bank) was impolite and uncourteous.
The interaction with Vaijanti started in a curt tone with (my bf had met another individual first and then switched to Vaijanti), "Let's do this fast, so we can complete before 5". Why say this to a prospect who you just met for the first time? Is this how Vaijanti is treated by "local" American banks?
Her impolite way of asking for documents, my bf said, reminded him of a jailer in India talking to jail inmates. "Passport, please". "What's you Pan?" Knowing my bf, 2-3 rude interactions are enough for him to change his mind.
Haha, anyway, he played along as we've are very unhappy with the account with HDFC Bank in India and we want to open another account.
After this Vaijanti said that the account that can be opened from Sunnyvale is some Premium or something similar (and not the normal NRE account) which requires a minimum deposit of about $2,500 or $3,000 (and not the basic one requiring $300 balance).
There was this rude way of saying, "We don't open the 25,000 INR wala basic from here. That is opened only from India." And this is where he had had enough of Vaijanti's curtness. He did not tell her that she is unfit for a customer facing role (i wish he did), instead he told her he will open the account from India.

Read moreRecently I needed to transfer a high value amount from my USA Bank Acct to my ICICI Bank acct in India. Nishant Malhotra from the California Sunnyvale Branch Customer Service dept provided OUTSTANDING customer service in helping me get the transfer done. I looked into various options for executing the transfer,but for speed of transfer combined with VERY FAVORABLE EXCHANGE RATES (especially given the high value of the transfer), ICICI's Money2India platform is unbeatable.
There are a few restrictions to work around but these were all imposed by my USA bank and the Treasury Dept, not ICICI. While the transfer process is a little involved and entails multiple steps, Nishant was VERY VERY HELPFUL and guided me patiently through all of them, providing very detailed and clear instructions, answering my MANY phone calls VERY PATIENTLY, and even offering to be on the line with my USA bank when the final transfer was being done, in case they needed anything. That was going WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND. But thankfully that wasn't needed.
Ultimately, it is the outcome that validates the effectiveness of any service. Thanks to Nishant's precise instructions, I am happy to report the high value amount ended up in my account in Bangalore well within 24hrs after initiating the transfer, setting my mind considerably at ease.

Read moreNot sure if this ICICI Bank branch in Sunnyvale is Open or Closed as no one answers the phone and left a voicemail as well. Hope it is operational as the customer service person recommended to connect with the local branch to support NRI and I don't want to drive for 1 hour to find the location is closed.
Update : This is the worst bank branch on the planet I guess as finally a guy call Ravindra Babu reach back and enquired about the issue and after listening to the entire thing asked me to send all the info over an email for them to proceed and after I sent the email as requested it took 4 days for them to say that they cannot help and I have to reach out the india branch and without any handover or leads just closed the loop saying they cannot help and when I responded for further assistance on at least sharing more info about the issue on the account , they didn’t bother to respond. Each response takes 2-3 days from this branch. TERRIBLE.
Waste of time and this branch should close down as none here knows...
