I did a cut and color. This is my first time dying hair so I have no baseline for comparison. It was $120 for color and $60 for the cut.
Outcome: good Service / friendliness: below expectations Overall: ok (Also seems much friendlier to her regulars but not to new customers)
More details: I was able to get an appointment for the next week, but when I come in I find that there is one customer finishing up and 3-4 arriving during the duration of my ~2 hour appointment. The hair dresser and assistant were very efficient but also seemed impatient and generally less careful/detailed than other salons I have visited. For the price range, I was expecting more attention and less jumping between customers.
Color: I came in with a rough color range idea in mind, and the hair dresser gave me a catalog of samples and recommended colors -- I like the color she picked out given my vague starting point.
Cut: I came in with photo samples of a haircut I wanted (short, pixie) and she did a pretty good cut. Overall I like the cut. But I'll tell you the nit picks too... It's a little short on the sides but I'm not concerned (I wanted it short anyways, and it'll grow out in a week or two anyways). The cut is kind of coarse though. The other place I went to before definitely smoothed out the cut and softened the lines more, whereas this cut is a little chunky if you look closely. Not super noticable so I'm satisfied, was just expecting a little more attention to detail. Also, once during the cut the comb kind of fell onto my face and startled me... it didn't hurt but she didn't say anything so it makes me wonder if this kind of thing happens often at the salon, or if she just didn't want to make a big deal out of it.
I think overall the style of this place is efficiency, cutting to the chase, and just getting stuff done... without the detailed 1:1 kind of service, attention, or friendly fluff some other salons around this price range provide. Personally I would pay an extra $10 to get dedicated time and attention to detail for an hour. I'm not really good at taking care of my hair, but Linda has been very patient with me, and she has taught me a lot on how to take care of it. In addition, I'm also learning what hair products I could use to style it better. Still learning something new about my hair every time.
When Kanzi first reopened during the pandemic, I was debating if I should get a haircut. After talking to Linda on the phone and understanding their new protocols, I felt safe and decided to get one. Before entering the studio, the staff would check my temperature and made sure that I had my mask on the whole time. There were extra masks available in the studio if I needed one after the haircut. Read moreThis review is too long overdue. I’ve been going to Kanzi for styling my hair for a couple of years. Linda is the best hair stylist I’ve ever met. Her skill is awesome and I really like her sense of beauty. It doesn’t matter how busy the store was, whenever I was there, and when it was my turn, Linda always gave full attention to details for my hair. I tried a couple of hair styles, and each time I was happy of the result.
During Covid, I didn’t go to the store for 7 months, and when I couldn’t stand on a messy head anymore, I called the store and scheduled an appointment as I felt safe about all the measures that Linda took: one customer in for a haircut at a time, temperature check, mask is required, Linda also wears mask in the store, and she did a good job at keeping the store clean and sanitized.
