We had a GREAT manager and staff and they were very apologetic for all of our issues over our 3 night stay...||1. The key fob was broken in our(1st) 1st floor room. After the front desk, having to let us in 4 times and me having to go to the front dest for new rolm keys 5 times, that is clear out of our room the second night and moved us to a third floor room even further away from the swimming pool (our only request was to the pool). |After we got situated into our room, we continued to have issues over the remainder of our stay. We were not alone as I personally witnessed to other families coming to the front desk with the same issue.||2. The breakfast was honestly pretty depressing. One of my 12 year old boys ate a cutie orange for breakfast while the other grabbed a cup of orange juice. I grabbed a small yogurt and a cup of very watered down coffee. They offered cuties, unripe, bananas, premade small omelettes (not appealing), tater tots, two flavors of yogurt and tiny little cups of canned fruit.||3. AMAZING happy hour appetizers we're amazing, to me at least. There was this yummy chicken dish, taquitos, homemade guacamole by the chef himself, Watermelon, bottles of water and cans of soda that you can purchase for $3 dollars. We stumbled upon this, not knowing it even existed. We are pretty happy about this!!||4. The swimming pool was our biggest reason for this hotel. I even called to confirm that it was a nice pool that was definitely heated.|I wish they would've disclosed that the pool goes from 3 1/2 to 4 feet (at its deepest). Also, the pool was cold. no just pulled was heated to 84°. It was 90° outside and at 4 PM. The pool was cold...||5. The rooms were average maybe a little smaller than 300 ft.²? The beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were average with showers only. ||6. Do not get room 301 on the third floor. Do not get any room that is adjacent to the elevators. I was woken up continuously throughout the night of carts, hitting the walls in the elevator, which is adjacent to my hotel room wall.||7. Cockroaches.... I was sitting on the edge of the hot tub with my feet in and yes, a cockroach cleansed on my leg. Course, I jumped up and after that we saw way too many of them running around on the floors near the hot tub and swimming pool. They were underneath the chairs lounge chairs. Did not see them as much during the day as when we went to the hot tub at 8:30 PM.. I guess they like to come out at night?? Anyway I brought a video to the front desk where I was told that they were aware of this and had just recently sprayed for them. we all know that these like 3 inch cockroaches need a place to live as well, I would just prefer that it was not near me or my immediate surroundings.. the front desk and manager were very apologetic and sympathetic to my feelings to this. |Fast-forward to the following morning ... I was at Six Flags with my boys and got a phone call from the front desk supervisor telling me that they were comping my whole 3 night stay of $671 for my double queen room. I know they were giving me one free. But, I did not even have to ask for this as they just offered.||8. Wasps nest in pool area|so, I may have had my struggles with this hotel in which many of these things can be fixed |I am impressed with the staff and they're honest care to my catastrophe of...
Read moreI turned down the opportunity to stay at this hotel due to the unprofessionalism of one of the front desk staff employees. Her name is Lajika and she was EXTREMELY||rude and needs to be reprimanded, immediately!||||I am in the process of having the interior of my home remodeled which has caused me to seek lodging via hotel stays for the next month possibly 2 months. I am somewhat familiar with the Maple Tree Inn as I've stayed one night at this hotel sometime ago.||||This past Monday, I was going to stay at the hotel along with a friend who I was going to meet in the lobby because he didn't get off work until 7:00 p.m.... and he was the one "footing the bill" I went inside of the hotel and told the young lady who was sitting behind the desk my situation and asked if it would be okay if I could sit in the lobby and wait for my friend instead of waiting in the car which reached three degree temperatures. Without hesitation, she kindly responded with a yes and a smile. I don't know this young lady's name but she was very polite and professional. ||||Apparently, there was some sort of small fire that developed somewhere within the hotel and the alarm went off which caused the guests to have to temporarily evacuate the hotel.. by this time I was already outside and my friend had showed up but because of all the chaos, we decided to stay someplace else that evening and return back to the Maple Tree the following day.||||I showed up close to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8th to meet my friend in the hotel lobby. The same young lady that I spoke to the day before was working and I told her that I was going to meet my friend in the lobby and asked if it was okay to wait for him until around 7:00 p.m... again, she said that would be fine. A couple of hours had gone by and Lajika had the audacity to walk up to me and rudely asked me if I was a guest. I told her that I was waiting for someone. She responded in the rudest way, "Well you're not a guest and you've been waiting here too long so you're going to have to leave. I was trying to explain to her that the reason for me waiting in the lobby was to avoid waiting in my car which exceed unbearable temperatures. At that point, I was upset and I didn't want to cause a scene in front of the guests which she had already done so I just told her that I wasn't a guest, yet. She yelled out, "Buh-bye...you can leave now!!! Who in their right mind behaves like that at work in front of guests or soon to guests.!?.and why is it ok for her to act like that!? I have a real problem with that because she doesn't need to be working in public with that type of attitude.||||Bottom line, it is never ok to allow employees to behave in such a way that she did. I will never attempt to bring my business to this hotel so long as she is working there . She needs to work on her people skills. ||After carefully analyzing this situation and based on observation, I find that Lajika is "nice" to who she wants to be nice to but finds it ok to behave unprofessionally towards...
Read moreRude, arrogant, discriminatory manager. Not treated with respect. Will not stay here when I return to Stanford even if it's the only hotel available.
My trip was for a medical appointment at Stanford to correct my breathing. I arrived on the 27th of January a bit earlier than my check in time (around noon), so my room was not yet ready. As I didn't have a rental car (used Lyft), I had to wait in the lobby with my backpack, with the clear permission from the front desk agent. She agreed to take my other luggage and keep it behind the counter.
I sat on the couch with my backpack. I was reclining because I was tired from the long flight from midwest and my breathing difficulties, but nonetheless, I was only taking up one seat. I kept having to reposition myself as I would slide down due to the couch being a sort of slippery leather-like material: the cushions would not stay in place. I did nothing but browse memes on my phone quietly.
After about 10 minutes, I was interrupted by the Hotel manager, Charles (older white man), who asked me if I had booked a room here, and if I didn't, that I would need to leave the premises. I assured him I had in fact booked a room, and was waiting for my room to be ready, and had permission from the front desk agent. Even after knowing this, he talked to be rudely and ordered me to reposition the couch cushions. I explained to him how it wasn't my fault the cushions were slippery and not secured to the frame. He didn't apologize for his arrogance and tone. I realized shortly after that he likely assumed I was some sort of homeless person or junkie looking for a place to hang or pass out.
I can't imagine what others must go through when they're tired and don't "look the part" of someone who should stay at their supposedly...
