This place is obviously & rightfully a local favorite. On each of the 3 mornings I stopped in while traveling in the area, the bright, beautifully-designed space was filled with the happy buzz of students, friends, first responders, & families enjoying some of the best drinks & pastries I've had in any cafe. The cardigan latte & Nutella brioche were beyond delicious & the staff were warm & very efficient. (The Cuban breakfast sandwich taken out as a Mt. Rainier hiking lunch was also a very tasty win!)

Just… the best. The space is so welcoming and the baristas are kind and engaging. The seasonal beverages are a delight (especially the cardigan latte - cardamom and magic). Nice pastry selection, including gluten-free options. A lot of seating and music at a volume that feels pleasant without being overpowering. Great place to come enjoy a snack and beverage with a loved one.

Just moved here from Nevada and found a lovely new spot. Very welcoming and have tried a couple different coffee’s here. The pastries and food options look delicious and will try on another day. Iced coffee and hot coffee options are both fire. I would recommend on a cool rainy day or any.

Where do I begin with this one? I have nothing but ALL GOOD THINGS to say. First, the owner, Tina, is a phenomenal, kind, and genuine human being. The way the shop is designed, with the heartwarming words of affirmation written on every to-go-cup, makes a difference in people's days. When I first discovered this shop, I sought a local coffee place to study for my college classes and snack in a cozy environment (not my home) to focus. Cozy is an understatement; the Common Ground Coffee community radiates positive energy, and the atmosphere gives off waves of peacefulness. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I typically get a Steamer or a tea, which is a nice alternative for noncoffee drinkers like myself. Food options are vegan and gluten-free, inclusive of those with food sensitivities. I particularly like the couch, windows, and plants inside the shop. It does get busy in the morning and early afternoon, but after about 1430-1500, the pace slows down a bit for those who don't like crowds. The music played is usually either an Indie pop or an R&B pop that could be more engaging but catchy enough to vibe out to. If I had to make any suggestions or changes, I suggest adding thicker pillow cushions for both the back and the seat. The hours are customer-dependent dependant, but hopefully, in the future, the hours could be extended a little longer to 1800. The prices of the drinks are reasonable, and I understand that there is a competitive nature with as many coffee shops as there are in Tacoma, but maybe adding a rewards program such as a punch card for the regulars or even new customers to cut some of the prices. Something like a free small Coffee or beverage after every 12th visit or buy one dessert, get the other 50% off. Other than that, I do a place like Tacoma, especially Hill Top, which could be a safer place. This will sound SUPER cheesy, but despite this, whenever I walk into Common Ground Coffee shop, and either the owner, Tina, or staff greet me warmly, I can work on my class assignments worry and stress-free. Thank you all for being such rock stars; I really...

If you're in search of a charming coffee shop that perfectly blends aesthetics with exceptional service, look no further than Common Ground Coffee! Tucked away in a cozy corner of Hilltop-this cafĂŠ is a delightful escape that truly understands the needs of remote workers and coffee enthusiasts alike.

As soon as you step inside, you’re welcomed by an array of cute and whimsical decor that creates a warm and inviting boho atmosphere. The combination of cozy seating, soft lighting, and artistic touches makes it an ideal spot for settling in with your laptop or enjoying a leisurely afternoon with a good book. It’s the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time while working, thanks to its inspiring ambiance.

The afternoon service here deserves a special shout-out. The staff is not only friendly but also incredibly attentive, ensuring that you’re well taken care of throughout your visit.

Now, let’s talk about the star of the show—the Lavender Vanilla Latte! This drink is nothing short of perfection. The balance of floral lavender and sweet vanilla creates a unique flavor profile that is both comforting and refreshing. Each sip is a delightful experience, beautifully crafted to enhance your coffee break. It’s the perfect companion for an afternoon of productivity!

Common Ground Coffee has successfully created a space that feels like a home away from home. Whether you’re there for the charming decor, the ease of remote work, or the outstanding coffee, you’re sure to leave with a smile. I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a fantastic latte and get some work done. You won't be disappointed! 🌸☕✨my only regret is I didn’t order a dipping to really review the...

Extremely Disappointed – Won’t Be Returning. On Sunday, June 29th at 10:09am, I visited the coffee shop with two of my friends while visiting from out of town. We ordered three drinks: two hot lattes and one iced almond milk latte. Unfortunately, the iced latte was undrinkably bitter—so much so that after just one sip, I knew I couldn’t enjoy it.

Wanting to salvage the experience, I politely approached the barista and explained that while the two hot lattes were fine, the iced latte was far too bitter and asked if I could exchange it for a hot one instead. To my surprise, the barista responded curtly: “We don’t exchange coffee drinks here. It’s against our policy.”

I calmly explained again that the drink was not drinkable and that I wasn’t asking for anything extravagant—just a simple exchange. She cut me off and said dismissively, “What you order is what you get.” I mentioned we were visiting from out of town and expressed how inflexible and unwelcoming that policy felt.

Rather than offer any kind of solution or even a shred of empathy, she rang up a new drink and asked me to pay again—$5.76—for a replacement. When I made it clear we wouldn't be paying again and reiterated my disappointment, she coldly said, “OK, I’ll cancel the drink,” and that was the end of it.

No apology. No customer service. No basic courtesy.

Needless to say, we left with a bitter drink and an even more bitter experience. I won’t be returning—and I certainly wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values being treated...
