I tried to get a library card today. Well that was absolutely ridiculous. I was asking questions since it's been 10 years since I've had a card at this location. When I asked the woman behind the counter next thing I know there was three people telling me I had to pay $25 to get a library card. As I was asking the so-called manager lady questions, she was very discriminating towards me because I had a walker and instead answered my friend who she didn't even know I was friends with that was standing next to me as if I was invisible. Way to go for discrimination. Unbelievable. It was already late in the afternoon and they wasted about 20 minutes of my very valuable time. The place needs a revamp inside. The outside is beautiful as usual. The only one that was helpful and very sweet was a young man named Ray. Thank you Ray for being a decent good human. It's a shame that your co-workers and manager are not decent at all. If you have a walker or any type of assistance with a device DON'T GO THERE. The bathroom has the heaviest door and is not accessible. They do have a stall that is larger, but you have to struggle with the door to get in at all. I can't believe this used to be a great Library. Maybe the manager should take out a book herself about discriminating against people fighting...
Read moreThe adult customer services are friendly and helpful. The kids area customer services are horrible. They hire old women who hardly smile to anyone. The person in charge in kids area made my 2 year old daughter cried in one of the time we were there. This person even told her staff to watch out on us when I and my kids doing some paper crafts here. Sometimes she comes to check on the table when I and my kids were working on and she said "there is a missing glue lid". Another old woman kept paying her attention on us behind her computer screen. Come on they are just kids, why you have to scare them to cry? Why do you have to keep checking on us when we try to have some relax time in a library? The craft supplies are just recycled paper and plastic, what is the big deal if we use a little extra? If you don't want we use them just cancel your crafting. The staffs in kids area treats I and my kids cheaper than their craft supplies. I hope the manager in Tarpon springs could do something useful before these people ruin your library. I feel sorry for whoever work hard in this library if they happen to read my...
Read moreDon't recommend to families with children, one specific librarian watched my family like we were going to untidy the space, then she educated me on how to return touched books to return cart (did I appear like a person that's never been to a library, felt very dumb); then she asked if I needed help, as if I looked suspicion of stealing or taking up the library space of someone better and lastly she asked me to keep my 13 month old from "running" and virtue signaling how she didn't want my daughter to get hurt. Not cool to educate my parenting style. Not going back, which I guess they accomplished what they aimed for. Can't imagine how they expect families with children with special abilities to patron. Not all children are...
