We frequent eateries all over Tarpon as we frequent weekly because we keep our boat at a nearby marina. We had a friend visit today for lunch and saw his post in Facebook. He spoke highly of this place and frequents often so we gave it a shot this evening. Parking was easy for starters, and as always the downtown Tarpon area is quaint to walkthrough. Upon entering we were greeted by the staff, they said we could sit inside or outside. We chose to sit on the patio which was fairly cool and breezy with all the fans. We were instantly greeted by our server (Mike) who was super friendly and accommodating. We looked over the menu and found it very appealing and the variety was vast from the apps to the main menu, the beer and wine selection was great. We ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower for our appetizer and it was super tasty, a little kick to it but really good. We moved into ordering our main course, I ordered the Big Fat Greek Taco and WOW!! The flavors bursting from this was by far one of the best handhelds I’ve had in a while. The wifey got The Smash Burger we both got the Tavern Twister fries which were oh my good. I had the Ft Myers Nitro Vanilla Porter….. Mmm! Wow! Our experience was fantastic we will definitely be back and make this an after boating stop for sure.

After a long day at Tarpon Springs incove we drove towards the town to eat at TT. Love the locale, well stocked bar and nice food options. Our server was friendly and with her help we decided on zucchini fries (order these - they where delicious and golden crispy with a lemon aioli that rocked), the Gyros taco and the Asian bowl. We clearly explained no onion on our gyros and our server took note. Our food arrived - gyros seasoning was good but it was full of purple onions, she took it back. 5 minutes later a rewrapped Gyro taco came back - they opened the original one and scraped some of the onions out, added more dressing and rewrapped 😔. Well we tried again, still full of onions! Server offered to have them remake, having worked in the restaurant business, sincerely I said no. The fries that came with the Gyros where delicious and those I recommend. On the asian bowl - I should have ordered a flatbread - watered rice with no flavor just a sop of a mess. The fried chicken pieces I pulled out, but the rice, blanched out broccoli and what seemed like La Choy Sweet n Sour sauce were a disaster. Server apologized for the gyros dropped our tab on the table and left. Like I said years in restaurant business, no manager to be seen to inquire about the mishap, gyros meal was compted. I loved your tavern but someone needs to work with the people in the back and following instructions. On the Asian bowl - please do something with the messy watery rice, it pays no homage to the "asian" in it title. Long grain rice, seasoning and a rice cooker can say it.

Oh boy, what a special experience at Tarpon Tavern! Saw the Smashburger special advertised on their website ,two patties, cheese, onions, etc. Sounded great. Plot twist: That’s not actually what you get. First, I tried to order it to-go. Nope, specials are dine-in only. Fine, I’ll play along. I sit down, order two specials, and they ask if I want fries and cheese. Sure, why not? They conveniently forget to mention those cost extra but on the menu it says it's included. Then, the best part, my “Smashburger” arrives, but guess what? Only one patty. You know, even though their own menu says TWO. And because they’re all about making sure you get the worst deal possible, you can’t order water with a special. You HAVE to buy a drink. So now I’ve got a $4 soda I didn’t even want. Final bill? $6 for fries, $2 for cheese, $4 for a soda, and two missing patties. So much for a “deal.” Turns out, this special is just a regular burger, minus half the meat, but somehow more expensive. Genius. And it was awful, I'm guessing they're pre-made or something because it was hard and rubbery. I eat out every day, sometimes twice a day. This isn’t about the money, it’s about restaurants thinking customers are too stupid to notice when they’re getting scammed. The table next to me was complaining about the same issue, Congrats, Tarpon Tavern, you played yourselves. Never again.

First I need to say I've never given a 1 star review and have only written 13 reviews all 5 star with the only exception a 3 star. Here's my first 1 Star and if I could give -10 that's what it would be. I've eaten at this place many times in the last eight years and used to really enjoy a quality grouper sandwich. But after taking about a year off a friend and I decided to try it again primarily because the Bayou Bistro was closed due to rain. Service was terrible, the dark haired young woman who waited on us got the order wrong and never refilled our drinks or checked on us for the entire meal. The real issue was the grouper sandwich was 100% not grouper and was definitely a freshwater fish I'm guessing Tilapia. The filet was an actual whole fish filet that can only be done by a very small fish, no restaurant is selling little grouper filets. Truth is this place has changed management so many times that it's clear this is an absentee owner who's trying to keep cost down with tricks like this and no accountability for quality service. You may be able to trick the tourists or people who don't know fish but you're not going to trick a Florida fisherman by subbing a inferior fish for grouper and honestly I believe it's illegal to pull tricks like this. Won't ever be back and will definitely be letting my friends know about that fish sandwich!

Walking into Tarpon Tavern is like walking into Cheers! Everyone is friendly, welcoming and you’re immediately part of the family. That is unless you’re like reviewer MK who isn’t happy unless she’s complaining and being difficult. If you order something that has Mexican ingredients…it may be a little spicy and if you don’t like that you should maybe order something more basic. Marianne and Jess are THE BEST bartenders! When you read negative reviews remember, some people are unhappy with everything no matter what! Some people treat staff like servants and are rude and obnoxious while expecting the server to smile the whole time they’re being treated poorly. MK check your own behavior before you take and post an unauthorized picture of someone and spew your negativity. You never know why a person may pull out their phone while working, maybe a family emergency, maybe she was venting to her boss about a rude and obnoxious guest so that she didn’t take it out on said guest? Regardless, I’m sure next time you walk in the Tavern you’ll still be greeted with a smile.

We arrived at 430 pm, long wait line as the place was packed. They have their fish dinners bogo every Tuesday, that explains why they were so busy. Definitely a very cute place with so much seating inside and outside. The 2 male hosts were very friendly, kept us in check of how long we would need to wait. All of the tourists and probably regulars were extremely friendly talking to us and everyone else waiting. We sat inside as it was rather hot out. Between the table, we all ordered apps and meals. The fish was humongous, very tasty with light batter. Their calamari was excellent. The chicken and cheese quesadilla was a huge hit! The chicken nachos were really good, very cute as they were served on a skillet. The chicken wings had a tasty bbq sauce. Of course the table ordered a few slices of their salted caramel cheesecake, so good!!!! Service was excellent! Scotty definitely was on his game the entire time even though it was quite busy. He was at the table any time we needed something or minutes before asking. We will definitely be back soon!!!
