What an incredible experience!! I wondered how anyone could leave a bad review for this place. I see one review is from someone who didn't want to follow COVID protocols that the owners had in place to protect themselves and others, rather than close up shop. Very commendable of the store if you ask me! I felt safe shopping here. The other reviews are from the same time so I can only imagine they were left for the same reason.
Here you will find vintage and antique toys of all sorts. If you were an 80s or 90s baby, you're going to lose your mind in this place. It truly counts at least somewhat as a museum, but one in which you can also buy the exhibits. Staff is kind and friendly, the store is wonderfully laid out and clean. It really was a dream of a place. You will feel like a child again.
Moreover if you are a diehard collector, you will find the prices either reasonable/accurate to online estimates, or cheap. Places like these aren't entirely impossible to find, but usually everything is priced out of my range. And granted, some toys here are hundreds of dollars, they are rare, it's for good reason. But you will find plenty of affordable things.
I always wanted a Raikes teddy bear, and here I found one, Blentley, just the right size and facial expression. This was a highlight of our 5th anniversary trip. I...
Read morePricing takes extreme advantage of those that don't know better. A toy that is mint/nib that averages $30-$50 dollars with shipping should NOT be sold for $170. Some items without price tags that normally go for $35 online were quoted as $70 when I asked. Another item had a $35 sticker which was peeled off before my eyes to reveal a $45 sticker (which was the new "correct" price?)... Corvette RCA car from Barbie the Movie has a price tag of $150 when the original price was $50. That being said, I love to support small businesses and I don't mind paying a few bucks over what a normal price would be to help keep mom and pop places alive but this level of over-pricing can only be described as scalping. Do your due diligence and know the value of the item you are looking at because you will be ripped off if you purchase...
Read moreLots of toys from all different genres and childhoods! Tons and tons of Star Wars (even vintage), Star Trek, Barbie, He-Man, Pop figures, LOTR, Godzilla, Lego, Ghostbusters, Hot Wheels, and much, much more. Nice to see such an accumulation of toys for purchasing without having to buy online.
The only drawback is the prices are a bit high, so bear that in mind, which is why the 4 stars.
Normally I would have bought an item or two but was a bit gunshy to touch anything as there is a sign warning you against touching things or specifically tearing the boxes, which is enough to make me not even want to pick up something even for purchase.
The whole store has kind of a don't touch vibe, which makes me a bit uneasy, so although I liked the store -- be mindful if you decide to...
