Pretty disappointed with this campus. We took our son here for a prospective college visit from out of state. Without even going into the program specifics (which is a whole separate evaluation) I am glad we came so at least I can post a honest assessment of it for anyone else that seriously is considering the ASU downtown campus. Anyone that says the downtown campus is beautiful is making things up or has never been anywhere else. Fact 1 there are no real barriers between the campus and the rest of the city. The campus just part of the city. Fact 2 there is a serious homeless population, with YMCA( the kind people stay ) next to campus. Fact 3 almost zero police presence. Fact 4 a lot of the sidewalks in the area are being used as bathrooms and sleeping areas . We were there over a weekend and we saw zero police on or off campus. There were lots of homeless including some clearly who had some mental issues. Seriously we felt very unsafe. When we did our official walking tour, during a weekday, we had homeless people walking through our group and another washing themselves in a water fountain. All the while NO ONE is addressing it as a issue. I am really surprised there has not been some type of major incident on this campus. Again we are from out of state so maybe there has been. We have seen campuses in some major cities. This was the worst I have seen. Not sure what is going on here but this is a Honest review. In comparison we went to the Tempe campus to check it out and was fantastic but not this. People who are sending their kids to should at least have all the facts that the schools their kids might go to. I feel this is almost...
Read moreWhile Arizona State University (ASU) is highly regarded by many, it has faced some criticism over the years. Some students and faculty have expressed concerns about the universityâs large size, which can lead to a less personalized experience and challenges with finding available resources, such as advisors or professors. The campus can sometimes feel overcrowded, particularly during peak times, leading to long waits for services and limited parking.
Additionally, there are complaints about the quality of certain programs, with some saying that the focus on expanding enrollment and increasing rankings may compromise the attention given to academics or student engagement in certain fields. Another point of criticism involves the campus infrastructure, with some feeling that certain areas or buildings are outdated or in need of more maintenance.
ASUâs aggressive marketing and focus on growth have led some to feel that the university prioritizes quantity over quality, and that a more intimate college experience might be harder to come by compared to smaller, more selective institutions.

Read moreI had to finish my degree at another university because they could not correct an administrative glitch from when I was on medical leave after a motorcycle accident.
ASU does not care about students. They care about money. Period. They are causing harm to the community with disinterested administrators, contradictory information, and innavigable bureaucracy. There is no personalization, compassion, or interest in individual success. The advisors are a joke. And if thereâs an administrative issue to work out, brace yourself for a challenge. The people lost in the cracks of this toxic institution are the ones with the least amount of resources to make it right. I am an immigrant who comes from a family with no formal education. I was new to the world of academia and all I needed was some care and guidance. A place of learning is meant to fill you with hope and promise, but this institution made me feel powerless,...
