I've been a year round weekly regular for many years and just love the farmer's market! Go with an explorer's mindset, see what looks good to you that week, try new things, and plan your meals based on what you buy. It's the perfect place to get local and organic produce along with lots of other food (fresh bread, eggs, honey, sauces, coffee, organic ice cream and milk) and different products (soap, garden plants and cut flower bouquets). Earlier in the season, I bought a lot of organic radishes, lettuce, spinach, asparagus, green onions, sweet peas, strawberries, mushrooms, greenhouse grown tomatoes, and various microgreens, which are always available. Now there's lots of organic red onions, white sweet onions, zucchini, carrots, beets, herbs, different colors of sweet cherry tomatoes, melons, garlic, all kinds of peppers and tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli, sweet corn, blackberries, cauliflower, leaf lettuce, and green or purple cabbage. Soon there will be peaches, pears, apples, cider, pumpkins etc. In other words, the market has just about everything and it tastes SO much better than...
Read moreThe Farmers Market always sounds like a fun thing to do on a weekend especially if you need something. But the prices there and the vendors could be better. They charge so much compared to the regular grocery store. I understand they need to make money but why go through all the traffic and all that if not for a good deal. But sometimes the prices are okay. But the most annoying part of the farmers market are the actual farmers and people who set up shop. They are extremely lazy sometimes. There are posted hours for when they are open yet when you go there, several lazy ass farmers start packing up shop well before the closing time. And before anyone says they don't have to follow the posted hours, still they should. We're talking up to a few hours early they start packing there products up to leave. Not all of them but several. That's just lazy and stupid. They need the business much more than we need to shop there or else they wouldn't be there. Come on people, punctuality works both ways. Not just showing up on time but leaving...
Read moreNothing beats a summer Saturday morning at the farmers market. I've been going here since I was a kid with my father, and now I bring my own kids with me. There are always so many tasty treats, fresh fruit, veggies, etc. that you can never go home empty handed. Also, if you love planting flowers, herbs, garden plants you can't miss flower weekend in May. We always get the best plants and flowers from Farnsel Farms and native flowers from The Soul Patch. Parking can sometimes be a pain, but if you bring a bit of patience and your walking shoes there are other lots further out as well as street parking. A lot of the vendors now take cards, but cash is always easiest. If you've never been you're really missing out on a...
