Since my review they actually did put in a pick up area so that’s nice but I pretty much never buy food due to negative experiences last year. Tonight I was hungry so I waited on the A-List line (first time ever trying that because I used to preorder but stopped after the bad experiences). I’m not sure what’s up with the cashiers but they had one slow person taking people from the A-list line and two people moving much quicker through the regular line. If I had just stood on the regular line I would have been helped faster. I ended up leaving the line because I didn’t want to miss the start of my movie. So looks like I’ll continue to not spend money at this theater 🤷♂️
Original review summer 2023: I have a couple of reasons for giving this 2 stars:
Stay away from "Dolbly Cinema" theaters! Certain rooms have different sound formats. I went to see the movie "If" yesterday which was in one of their "Dolby Cinema @ AMC" rooms. The volume was so loud I had to stuff napkins in my ears. I am a 44 year-old man with average hearing. I have been into Home Theater for over 20 years and know a thing or 2 about reference levels. This was absurd. I have never experienced a movie so loud before. I took out my phone's sound meter app and it measure at 100db consistently with peaks over 113db. This is excessive, especially with a movie that attracts/intended for children. The coming attractions were unbearable. I immediately contacted customer service and they explained the sound level was intended and is set by Dolby. They could not lower it. They mentioned the it would get quieter during the movie, which it did, but peaked excessively during the songs or action on screen. The entire experience was terrible.
Regarding the environment, I felt a bit grossed out. The seats and tables were given a once-over with a rag that left a sticky residue. There were food stains on the floor. The leg portion of the seats do not recline/lift up fully and provided very little lumbar support. I felt like I was sinking into the seat, which added to the grossness. Even if my phone had fallen into the cracks of the seat, there would be no way I'd stick my hands down...
