----â---------------------â---------------------â-----------------------
I used to love this GameStop, genuinely and I do not want to write this review. However, over the past couple of years I've had nothing but horrible experiences with them; I've now grow to say that I cannot recommend GameStop as a reliable vender in any way.
My most recent problem; I preordered a game, CyberPunk 2077, digitally. I figured that this would be a perfect time to use an old gift card.
Disclosure; I play games on PC, I typically don't buy anything for console anymore and just wanted to get rid of a gift card that I had for about two years. I know its not normal to get PC games at GameStop, but I wouldn't have expected this kind of problem.
I was told by Bryce, the cashier that was working that day, that I would be able to call the store on the game's release day to get a digital code to download the game. I already thought this was strange as digital copies of games are usually given in the form of a code on a receipt upon purchase. (From there you can typically pre-load a game so that you can play it on release. So that didn't happen.) After asking the cashier again if it was correct that I would have to wait until the games release to digitally download the game, I figured it was just GameStop being GameStop.
So here comes release day, one of the only days in the week I have off from work, and I get ready to call GameStop and download my game.
"Our physical copies haven't come in yet" "What? It's a digital game... for PC." "One moment please"
I'm put on hold and about 5 minutes pass, no big deal.
"Our digital codes come in physical cases that haven't arrived yet"
That is the most absurd thing I have ever heard, how could they be so unprepared for such an anticipated game release - CyberPunk 2077
Long story short- I'm waiting for a phone call from GameStop so that they can tell me that a digital code was shipped physically to the store; Post game's release (on a pre-ordered game). I was also offered a refund in store credit as well but, my problem is that I would have just ordered the game on another platform, saved all this time, and would have been able to play it right now; instead I am typing this.
Now, I know the employee could have been new or genuinely didn't know any better, but he could have put in the effort to at least make sure I knew what I was getting myself into and what exactly was going to happen with this digital game I was preordering.
For example: Instead of saying; "You'll be able to call this location on the game's release day to get your digital code for the game"; he could have said, "Your game, while digital, will be shipped to the store for you to come in and pick up on release day".
By the way, the shipment is late too so even if I did come in to pick it up it still wouldn't have been there on release day.
I wouldn't have been upset if, from the start, I was told that there were no digital copies of the game being sold and that I'd have to wait a day or two after to...
Read moreWe had an issue with a Pokemon card submission to PSA that was handled very poorly. When we go pick up the cards, one of them seemed damaged, and my son pointed it out right away. The store associate, Maverick, told us the store couldnât do anything and that we should contact PSA directly. They took the pictures of the cards on the day they receive them before they submit to PSA. So I asked him if we can have the picture of the card, so I can prove PSA that the card wasnât damaged at the beginning. He just showed me the picture of it on the tablet. He told me he canât give the original picture to me since the system doesnât allowe him. We called the PSA, but PSA told us that the store needed to submit a âquality assurance requestâ on our behalf. We canât submit it.
When I called the store back the same day, Maverick told me the store manager would need to handle it and that I would be contacted. I called several times throughout the week to follow up, but I never received a call from the manager.
Eventually, I reached out to GameStop customer service, mentioned that store didnât help me or respond me at all. Game stop customer service emailed back to me that I would receive a return ticket for the card, so they will handle it. That never happened. Later, I was told the request was misunderstood because they thought it was an online order. Then finally, they said they couldnât help because the card had already left the store, and they no longer took responsibilityâeven though their own associate told us to take the card and contact PSA ourselves.
This entire situation was frustrating and showed a complete lack of accountability. I followed every instruction, stayed patient, and trusted that this would be handled professionally, but that never happened. Itâs very disappointing that GameStop refuses to acknowledge or correct their employeeâs mistake. Weâve been loyal GameStop customers for yearsâmy kids love shopping there and weâve never had an issue when it comes to making purchases. But unfortunately, when we had a problem with a PSA submission order, the support and resolution process was extremely disappointing. I waited patiently, trusted that GameStop would handle things professionally, and communicated clearly with their customer center. Despite this, the issue was never properly addressed. It felt like once a payment is made, the support...
Read moreThe store staff is really fantastic. I have shopped a lot of GameStops in just had a horrible experience with a different one over in a standalone in colonie.
However the Crossgates GameStop staff working behind the counter couldn't have processed my trade quicker and been any nicer about things.
I forget their names but the one guy's name I remember went by Swift and I can't remember the other fellow working with today.
I would like to thank both of them because it was a very fantastic transaction and they were both very nice people and insanely efficient at their jobs. I wish I could remember the other gentleman's name however he was working today with Swift. Thanks dudes!!
every GameStop's different. you have if you have a bad experience at one try another ! This location has been consistently awesome to me. I Don't know why I tried going to a different one it was out of location convenience not worth it.
I will go out of my way to return the crossgates GameStop Mall in the future. no matter who's working there as I've always had good transactions and these two gentlemen I've never met before today proved me correct by treating me like a 'regular', which I am generally shopping there I just had happened and never seen these two fellows
I have worked and purchased and sold lot of things different two allsorts video game stores, local like the 'local' competition in the very same mall.
in the end other people try and rip you off as they have corporate policies to favor them or very loose rules allowing them to rip you off and claim it's a mistake. Careful of the local competition right around the same corner in CrossGates Mall. They are an example of companies that make quote mistakes and try and rip people off consistently
It's a shame local places rip off their own community and even past employees.
Good news! There is a killer GameStop in CrossGates Mall,i it 'corporate' and but at least they are honest and don't talk down to their customers.
This place inparticular GameStop's staff and customer service is consistently really good and insanely efficient for the amount work the employees do that some people...
