DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

The Lawrence, NY, Location is pretty small, pretty big selection for women's and kids shoes. Men's section is vastly smaller and variety isn't forthcoming. Only 1 pair of proper Chelsea boots for men that could be found. The shoes on display are original brand names so quality comes down to the brand and specific shoe.

Shopping experience on a rainy Friday, early afternoon; store was relatively empty and it seemed like only 3 people were working at the time. 2 floor attendants and one cashier. It was pretty dull to be perfectly honest. Music was drab, lighting drab, enthusiasm of workers? Drab.

The one cashier was terribly slow. Stood there for a good 10-15 minutes with one person in line front of me. Line behind me got longer and longer. People were starting to get disgruntled. Could have been the customers at the counter at the time or the employee but can't be too sure but certainly was pain. Line only starting moving after the wait when a second register was opened by one of the other workers.

DSW shopping was fine. I wish their staff didn't call out, especially around this hectic holiday season. Because some of the customers appeared uneasy, having to wait on line for a long period of time. The manager and her team were doing their best to speed up the process. My feedback. The manager could improve in her delivery when addressing customers. While I understand it was overwhelming dealing with so many different personalities. She should have never allowed anyone to take her out of character. The manager could have been diplomatic with accepting the customer's apology. She instead rudely deflected and shut down the customer from finishing his apology. Not nice at all. The manager must lead by example, especially when her staff was watching her. Anyhow, I like DSW Shoes because of its comfortability. I will keep...

If I could give this location zero stars I would. The fact of the matter is that the store shuts down 10 minutes before closing everyday. I have tried to return something for the last 2 days and I arrive about 7-10 minutes before closing but their gates are down and only the customers that are in the store prior to that time can get assistance, i also have a job and am trying hard to make it before closing. I was there today and one of the employees told me her manager will not let us in at this late time and to that I say maybe change out Emma as the manager and put someone else in her place. Or at least change your store hours to reflect 10 minutes before the hour at closing so the consumers are not confused. Shame on this store going against...
