We own a very old photograph of one of my wife's ancestors (circa 1860) that was in an ornate oak frame. After our house was damaged in Hurricane Irene, I made the mistake of storing it upstairs in the house with no heat or a/c for two years . It was full of mold and the filigree had fallen off the frame in many places and there was a tear in the canvas. I looked in vain for someone to repair it. One local shop took it and after holding it for almost two years gave it back because he was afraid to touch it. I brought it to Huntington Art Center, which is right down the street from my office. They carefully took it apart and we discovered that it was colored with pastels on the photo. Over the last few months they cleaned the mold, restored the pastels, repaired the frame and I just picked it up. The price was fair and they did an exquisite job. ...

Yesterday, in my attempt at being humble about my work, I neglected letting you know how happy and pleased I was with the work you did to enhance the experience of my photographs. Once enlarged, printed in beautiful paper and lovely, elegant, perfect matting, it all came together to make what one sees in a larger manner. Aesthetics is always hard to put down in words, it’s always an experience to be felt, right?
And then, beauty or aesthetics is always in the eye of the beholder!
