Utopia — Attraction in Town of Oyster Bay

I purchased my replacement upper ear piercing as well as my replacement eyebrow barbell here about one year ago. Nevertheless, I had an MRI this morning, and of course all the piercings had to come out. After the test, I headed over to Utopia. They may simply be the coolest, most down to earth people on the planet. Marlene put both my piercings back in and was so sweet and professional in every aspect. It amazes me time and time again that people such as myself are always judged...whether it be for my tatoos or piercings, there is always an assumption that goes along with a formal introduction. Then they realize that I've been working with disabilities for 25 years and the tune changes. Nevertheless, these workers are simply flawless. Friendly, kind, professional and helpful. Never judge a book by its cover! I have worked with every type of professional on this earth and it simply amazes me that someone like Marlene treats me better than a medical professional who has my life in the palm of their hand. Please let Marlene know that Joe sent you! Remind her it was "the man who had the MRI". It was my first time meeting her and without doubt will not be my last. I may be 40, but my tongue is next on the piercings list...and I wouldn't want anyone but Marlene touching me. Thanks Utopia! Keep up the amazing work! By the way, I had to edit this post because I read the review that was posted before mine...and I could not BELIEVE my eyes. Well said by another review...not sure what in the world that guy was searching for...but you sound like a fool! I'm sure there are plenty of places that would suit your idiotic needs better. This place...

A couple things I wanted to touch on since I noticed a few reviews that mention steep pricing on American made Glass. Glass within a significant price range is due to several factors, the fact that it’s made in America by an American made artist and one with a “celebrity following “ it would be equivalent to buying a record or CD directly from Beyoncé. Genreally, this glass is much higher in quality because of the materials and methods used to create it. You can expect American made glass to withstand much more than China glass can. China glass is nowhere near as durable. That has nothing to do with the shop itself, again I just wanted to mention that because I feel like a lot of people are uneducated about the Glass industry as it’s not as popular on the East Coast. I also wanted to mention that the manager on site, Marley is a very professional person & pleasure to deal with. She is the lead piercer and both reliable and knowledgeable about all products within the store, and there are a lot. I would say she is the main reason, Along with the large selection of products that I return to Utopia with...

I went into the shop with a friend in the basement and the girl running the register was on her phone. Once she let us into the back, she left us to our own devices in the back and stayed up front on the phone. I went up to the register to pay while she was letting people into the back. She kept looking back and making sure I was still there waiting at the register. Once the person she was helping came back into the front, she preceded to help another customer in the back. I said excuse me to either ask if we could pay upstairs or be helped soon, and she ignored me. My friend then said excuse me louder and she still ignored us. We waited a few more minutes after being ignored and then walked away without the products we had intended on purchasing. Only after we had put our items down and started to walk up the stairs did she come back to the front.

Honestly, the part where she ignored us is what upset us. She could have at least said "one moment" to us.

I won't be shopping...
