As with any store, buying shouldn't be a problem, their prices are reasonable, and all. But when it comes to repair, specifically a Nintendo DS Lite, I question their expertise. I sent the DSL there to be repaired. They said they'd call when it was fixed. Waited almost a week with no reply, so I decided to call them. Turns out they said it couldn't be repaired. Why didn't they call and say that, so I can get someone who can repair it, to do so? To add to that, they said it was water damage, when no water what-so-ever came near the thing. It was playing fine before I dropped it across the edge of a dresser. It wasn't water damage. I'm guessing the mother-board is broke. Even if it is the mother-board (probably worse case scenario), if they knew what they were doing they could call me up, say it's the motherboard, so it will cost $70 or so to fix, I'd say, ok, fine, fix it, and then they could buy a motherboard off ebay, or wherever, and put it in. If they knew what they were doing.
This isn't rocket science, btw, there are plenty of people online offering to fix a DSL motherboard, so it's not like it's impossible to fix / could only be fixed by Nintendo.
They said if it was the motherboard, you would be better off to buy a used DSL. So they expect me to give them more money, buying a used DSL, after they couldn't fix it because of their own incompetence? Seriously? Trust me, $70 (around the going price to fix the motherboard online) is less than a used DSL.
I want them to hire better repairers that can actually fix a DSL no matter what the problem is. Or just cross DSL off the list of consoles they can repair. Simple.
I appreciate the free estimate, but it just wasted my time because the estimate of the problem was wrong. If they can't fix ALL DSL problems, they shouldn't fix any. It's just wasting people's time.
And I doubt the repairer's experience if they can't repair a broken motherboard on a DSL. If they can't do it, they are certainly not a pro. I'm guessing he learned off the internet and tried his hand at it. If your DSL has a broken fuse I wonder if they will even repair it or just "patch" it. See, there are a few ways to repair a broken fuse. You can actually repair it, which is the pro way, or just patch it, which is the amateur way. Patching is dangerous because if you do, and the same thing that broken the fuse to begin with, will go straight to the motherboard and fry it. That's why there are fuses to begin with, it's added protection.
So, I suggest not to take your...
Read moreOogie Games is a shell of its former self. I went there a couple of weeks ago for the first time in approximately 5 years and was completely underwhelmed by what it's become. I believe the key component to a business' success is customer service and they failed mightily in that aspect. As I walked in to the store, the associate was on a personal phone call. They stayed on the call for about 15 out of the 20 minutes that I was inside of the store. They finally greeted me with a simple "hello" after the phone call. No apology, no "is there anything I can assist you with" etc. Now to the store itself: Dark, dirty, and dingy with a disappointing selection of retro video games. Everything in the store looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. I felt like I was in someone's basement that's only used for storage and then forgotten about. The games, shelves, cases, and overall appearance of the store all look rough. Frankly, I'm surprised that they are still in business. I went to another local game store the following day and it was the complete opposite. The store was properly lit and well kept with a wide variety and selection of retro games which have all been cleaned, cased, and well maintained. I was greeted by multiple associates the moment I walked in the door. They also asked me what brought me to their store and if they could assist me in any way. That place got an A+, Oogie games gets an F. Sadly, this store should be...
Read moreEDIT TO THIS REVIEW After sending a lengthy email to the corporate office and a couple of phone calls later, I feel much better about Oogie Games. Kudos to Al and Jay and their efforts to ensure my experience was a fluke and not the standard. I appreciate the actions of Oogie Games since my experience that will make me want to continue doing business with this company. Thank you!
Do NOT have a birthday party here. The reasons why are as follows; Zach will not care about your kids being there - he will be on his phone the whole time. He also doesn't know anything about the NHL so don't bother having your kid ask him how to switch teams on any hockey games they want to play. That last sentence was sarcasm by the way, why would you need to know anything about the NHL to be able to switch teams? I don't know anything about war but I can help my son set up a mission in COD? You will be treated rudely when it's time to pay You will be treated rudely when it's time to leave because Zach's shift is ending You will be "bugging" someone else if you ask them about additional game options instead of Zach When you are trying to wrangle 15 excited kids into paying attention to the food portion of the party, Zach will be playing video games and telling the kids they can play more games after they're done eating without checking with you first
Extremely disappointed, will not...
