Epiphany Downtown Salon & Spa — Attraction in Traverse City

We went to Epiphany for our bridal party on September 10, 2022. When we called to set up the appointment months prior we were told we would have experienced hair dressers for the event. We were also told on a price for everyone. When we arrived the one gentleman that was doing some of the girls hair said he could only curl or straiten hair but didn't know how to do any styles or updos. We all showed our pictures and none of them were of the design we wanted. Granted we knew it wouldn't be exact but they weren't even close. I had asked for a simple updo because I have very thick hair and it frizzes in the heat. I did show a picture but did say I'm not picky as long as all my hair is up. I ended up leaving with my hair in little pony tails for the front hair to be brought back but my hair was completely down in the back. That night I took out the tiny ponies and my hair had so many large knots from whatever they did in the back of my head that I actually had to cut out them out. So not only was it more than they said it was going to be, the complete opposite of what I asked for, but it left my hair so damaged I actually had to have knots cut out! My daughter's hair had to be completely redone when we left there before the wedding. For my hair and my daughters and one make up it cost us 285. When we were quoted for it to be 231 and that includes the 20% tip. I did reach out and have heard nothing back please save your money and hair and go somewhere else for such a special day. I unfortunately had a terrible experience at this salon. I came with a bridal party to have our hair done on the day of the wedding and was charged for a hairstyle that left me leaving the salon in tears.

Martina, the salon owner did my hair. The first thing she said to me when I sat in her chair was “have you ever considered a hair topper?” Not hello, or even introducing herself. Extremely insensitive. I should have got up an walked away then, but I continued to let her style my hair. I showed her an inspiration picture of beach waves to make sure she could do that and she told me looks great and wouldn’t be a problem. Well it was a problem.. my hair was so bad that I left her chair in tears and had to go back to the hotel, completely re-wash and style my hair after paying for the terrible service i received. The ends of my hair looked like they were not touched and there was so much hair spray in my hair that it could not be fixed without washing first. Scheduled a facial here while I was on vacation. 5 stars for Kailie! She was so sweet and did a great job on my 90 min facial. My skin felt so refreshed and renewed afterward. You could tell she was passionate about what she does and cared about me as a client. I thought the price was super reasonable for what I received. The booking system was also very easy and I was able to book online the night before. Online booking is very helpful when you are on vacation and plans are changing depending on weather. My only recommendation would be for the salon to update the branding. You can tell it’s a popular place with the older crowd. Updated logo, refreshing the waiting area with some paint or more modern decor could help this place attract some younger clientele.
