What a great little secret this wonderful trail is. The markers along the way describing what the area was like about 18,000 BC are fascinating.. Take your time and read the signs.
Great walk but the current boardwalk sadly ends abruptly. I was gratified to see a sign there last week that stated that the long term plan was to lengthen that boardwalk at the end of the hike substantially. That would be terrific! Most of us would like to see it become a lengthy trail. Its a beautiful place to walk through.
2/15/2022 addition to above..... Plans are now underway to lengthen the walkway where it currently ends at the end of the wooden walkway and when done, later this year (??) the trail will continue directly on to Brown's Ferry Park, another great area filled with many picnic benches and numerous areas to just sit beside the wonderful Tualatin River and enjoy the beauty of this area. Hopefully the plans will also include an extension beyond Brown's Ferry Park to pick up the trail again to continue on the currently existing Tualatin River Greenway trail beyond...
Read moreGreat pathway. Quietly tucked in among a busy area is this great treat with tall trees and Tualatin river views.
It does a great job of letting you forget you are near major roadways and big parking lots for retail stores. Wide and paved for easy wheelchair, stroller or biking use. Benches for resting, signs identifying trees and the history of the area and best if all, as you walk along the trail are markers in the cement listing the time line of events. When floods happened, what animals were there and when man arrived. And not just words, there are animal and human footprints too. Did you know they found animal fossils right at this location?
Eventually as the area is developed the pathway will be extended further east and that is when I'll give it the 5th star.
You can extend your walk or ride by exiting at the Best Buy/Petco parking lot, walk out to the street and take a left for a couple of blocks and get on the Brown's Ferry trail. Both trails are very...
Read moreThis is a beautiful local trail that runs parallel to the Tualatin River, and is open from dawn to dusk. It’s a great place for dog walkers, cyclists, and long distance runners, and contains information signs and placards discussing the history of the land back to the late ice age.
The trail begins at the Nyberg Woods shopping center, and continues through town past Tualatin Community Park before branching off towards Durham Park and Cook Park in Tigard.
Comprising of several miles of paved trails, it’s a great way to get some exercise on a nice day, or to access several shopping centers on foot without having to cross...
