Bass Pro Shops, formerly known as Cabela's, has a huge selection of stuff for pretty much any segment of the outdoor industry. Product selection is generally good and the employees have always been very helpful.

Whether you need camping gear, hunting gear, water sports gear, dehydrators, vacuum sealers, firearms, archery equipment are pretty much anything else you can think of they have you covered. They also have a pretty good selection of clothing and footwear (though Sportsman's Warehouse, owned by the same company as Bass Pro shops, has a better selection of footwear)

Check out here are normally staffed decently, so you can get through the checkout line quickly. They also sell many different kinds of passes and licenses, from hunting and fishing to yearly state park passes and lots more. Northwest forest passes are also available at REI one exit down, and Oregon snow park permits are available at Dick's sporting goods one exit down. Cabela's used to not carry these, which is why I'm mentioning these other places as an option.

Great American Outdoor Group (the parent company for both Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's) recently rebranded this store as well as pretty much every other Cabela's location as Bass Pro Shops. I'm a little bit bummed about that, even though they're the same store there's an element of brand loyalty involved. I've been shopping at Cabela's for 11 years since they first opened in 2014, but I've not shopped at Bass Pro Shops anywhere outside of Las Vegas. So, it's a little odd going in here and seeing the Bass Pro Shops name. Especially since Oregon isn't a hotbed for bass fishing. That said, it's the same employees here in the same product selection.

Overall though, this is still a great store. They have a large selection of things like permethrin, which is harder to find at a lot of places. They also have bottles and cans of this in larger quantities than most places. They also have a great selection of deet, if you're looking for an insect repellent and the like they have you covered. They also have the large jetboil stove fuel canisters, as well as several other brands of similar fuel that work with jetpoil stoves. Most stores only stock the small canisters, so it's awesome they have this.

They also have a fairly good selection of bear spray, though as of mid-may 2025 your best prices for bear spray are going to be at Costco (or they have a two cans for the price of one deal going on for UDAP).

The quality on some of their house brand clothing seems to have gone down a little bit, specifically Redhead and their house branded sleeping bags. Their house branded sleeping bags have attended to tear out at the zipper due to poor stitching. If you're looking for a warm flannel sleeping bag, you're better off going to Sportsman's Warehouse. Their house branded sleeping bags come from a different manufacturer, and they don't have The zipper problem that Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's bags have.

Overall, it's a typical Big Box store but for outdoor gear instead of the standard fair. This store has good selection, okay prices and generally friendly employees. I've been shopping here for 11 years and I will continue to do so, even though it's a little odd with the...

If you purchased a firearm online, it might look like your order was cancelled but it really wasn’t! I upgraded my review after finding out what happened BUT the horror story continues and so back to one star. My brand new gun had a big scuff running down the side. You don’t notice it unless it’s in the right light. Contacted the store and as before nobody answers. I think it’ll still function properly and I don’t want to deal with them ever again. So I’m keeping my damaged brand new $500 gun… thanks Cabela’s.

Below is my original review but it turned out the store was trying to be nice while our government delays gun purchases. Tualatin Cabela’s will refund money until a gun is picked up if it’s going to take a long time and you can’t get ahold of anyone to find out what happened.

Don’t make the same mistake I did - I ordered online for pickup in store. It took weeks to get there. When it finally did arrive, I went in to the store I got lucky to not have to wait hours to talk to someone. Most people had to wait in the lobby for hours! They even had a little auditorium setup for them to wait!!!

Even still, the process to fill out the paperwork took a long time. The employee was nice so I didn’t mind. I wasn’t auto approved by the system. I was told it would be an unknown amount of time but they’d call when it was ready. I never got a call and saw a refund via email. I called the store gun counter and nobody answered. I called the main operator and nobody answered. I tried again, still no luck.

Well since I ordered online I called THEM. They couldn’t tell me what happened but they tried calling the store and nobody answered them either!! So they sent an email to the manager. The manager didn’t respond… I heard that from their online CS when I followed up. At this point I guess I’m not getting the gun I spent 6+ hours trying to buy. Had to front the $500 on my credit card. Had to eat the $10 background check fee (I guess). Have a mark on my gun record. So now when I go to buy it somewhere else, the fascists will say ā€œhey this guy is trying to buy a bunch of guns - red flagā€

So basically it looked like they sold me something, made me wait weeks, then hours in person. Cancelled it with no explanation and will not answer customer phone calls or their own online customer service.

It turned out it was okay though. We’ll see how the rest of it goes… if the government will let me purchase something I need for my self defense in this otherwise...

Ordered a rifle online and paid in full. I received an email, it said it has arrived and to come into the store. After taking time off work and driving over an hour to pick it up they said they aren’t taking applications for the rest of the day. They said you have to get here well before they open because they are only take a select number of people. I get that it’s weird timing because of the new measure and I know it’s not Cabela’s fault but you could of at least explained that in the email you sent before somebody completely inconvenienced them selves to come all the way out to Tualitan. They are managing their firearm sales very poorly compared to other sporting goods stores.

Update I arrived to the store at 5am(2 hours before they open). After waiting two hours they said if you don’t usually get approved same day for firearm purchases then your background check will get voided after today. Once again Cabela’s, COMMUNICATION! Explain that to me when you turned me away and told me to show up early in the morning last time. I am blown away how this store is managing there firearm sales with this new measure. It is truly a circus compared to other stores.

2nd update I heard that there has been a vault out on measure 114 and gun sales will continue. I called Cabela’s to see if we can now do the background check for the gun I purchased. They said they are giving an extra 30 days for those that are still in the queue but they aren’t taking any new apps. But when we showed up 2 hours before they opened and waited in the freezing cold they said if you don’t normally get approved same day your background check will get voidedā€. So we didn’t wait another 6 hours until it was our turn to fill out a background check for it to just get voided. Every time I talk to this store I’m absolutely blown away how they are managing this situation. I finally just got a refund, it’s not worth it. I have wasted so much time and gas money on this store and they have offered nothing to...

Where do I even begin? Walking into the gun department at Cabela’s/Bass Pro Shops, I was simply looking to purchase a new rifle—but what I got was an unforgettable experience, thanks entirely to one extraordinary individual: Joe. Joe is, without a doubt, the gold standard of customer service. From the moment I stepped up to the counter, he greeted me with an energy that was both genuine and contagious. In a world where great service is becoming increasingly rare, Joe was an absolute breath of fresh air. His deep knowledge, calm confidence, and infectious enthusiasm for firearms transformed a simple transaction into something far more meaningful. He wasn’t just selling me a rifle, he was guiding me through an experience. He asked insightful questions to understand exactly what I was looking for, listened intently, and offered thoughtful recommendations without ever being pushy. Joe made sure I not only felt confident in my purchase, but excited and empowered. His attention to detail and commitment to getting things right was astounding. But what truly sets Joe apart is his passion. You can tell he loves what he does, and that radiates in every interaction. He’s not just an employee, he’s an ambassador for the brand, the sport, and the outdoor lifestyle. It's rare to meet someone who blends professionalism, expertise, and heart so seamlessly. People like Joe are exactly why I keep coming back to Cabela's/Bass Pro Shops. He’s the kind of person who turns customers into loyal fans. In my book, he’s not just a great employee, he’s an irreplaceable asset to your team. Give that man a raise, a medal, a trophy—something! Because Joe is a legend.

Inconveniently located but worth the drive. It's kind of like that adult toy store for the outdoors and being active. Some good tips - Always check out the bargain bin, a room in the far back corner past fishing and shoes. Look around and you will always find things that you may want or need. They have some deals but if you look around and see some higher priced items that just sit there a month or so. For example a $400 item thats been there a month. They may have it priced at the bargain bin for $300, ask the employee that's managing the bargain bin room and ask if they can do a better deal. If you ask you will probably get a better price. Check out their seasonal items, like camo gear and some outfits. Keep looking around and you will find some pretty good deals. Anyhow, overall they are pretty competitive to Amazon. I bought a buddy heater from them for camping and they had a better deal on their web-page than Amazon could ship it to me. So keep them in mind when you really need it soon and wait out the deals. It's also just a great place to walk around and get ideas. If this review helps, please give it a like.

EPIC outdoor adventure & camping + hunting super store!! Wow upon entering Cabela's I was amazed at the tall cabin style ceiling, the taxidermy wildlife & lighting. Enormous space to browse every essential section showcasing hundreds of products. I grabbed a pair of All Terrain Crocs mainly, but found other things I had to snag šŸ˜‰ There is a massive indoor aquarium with local salmon and trout. A gigantic skeleton of a prehistoric cave bear! I'm going to be making a second trip to Cabela's soon because I wasn't able to see the entire store on my first trip..!! One half has camping, lighting, all kinds of outdoor equipment, footwear and a giant fishing department šŸŽ£! The other side has the firearm's šŸ”«, cutlery šŸ”Ŗ, ammunition, gun parts & accessories, hunting equipment + more. I didn't make it to that side cuz I could literally spend hours and hundreds $ there lol but you can bet I'll be back soon. We found out on our way out that Cabela's allows dogs in their store and an employee suggested to bring our pup inside next time! šŸ‘šŸ¾ šŸ• šŸ•ļø
