After many year not doing yoga, I was super excited to try Sumits. I went on Saturday at 10. The class was full and hot. The teacher went out of her way to introduce herself and ask if I had any questions. The class was intense. I know from experience, the more you go the more adapted to the heat you become. I was so happy I did this class, when it was over! The studio is clean. Bathrooms have shower, toiletries and cubbies for items. There is a small shopping area, with mats, towels and yoga clothes. I really appreciated that Sumit is active in giving back to the community. When I went, several none profits were listed and by taking a class...added to their donation. I was surprised by the variety of people who attend. Lots of men of all ages. Women of all ages. Teens. All abilities. The schedule changes on occasion but they offer several morning classes. Afternoon and evening classes. Not all are yoga. They incorporate strength building classes also. Classes for a drop in are $16. I bought a 10 pack for $120. Bringing down my cost per class to $10. The sweat and workout are not comparable to any other fitness class. From the deep detoxification that last hours after class. To the calming and renewal sensation that I left with and carried all day. You need to bring a towel, yoga mat, water and dress in yoga gear if u have it. Short and a tank top will work. They do rent some items if you dont have...
Read moreThis is my absolute favorite studio here in Tucson, AZ. I aim to practice there at LEAST 4 times a week and it truly has impacted my life in such a positive manner! By no means did I ever think yoga would become such a big part of my life and despite not being the best at it, it really is a judgement free zone. All levels are welcomed and it shows because the instructors really walk you through every step without neglecting an individual. Additionally, not only is the studio SUPER clean and serene inside, it's an overall great environment! The staff is beyond kind and are there to accommodate you 100% of the time. There have been numerous times I will be running late and will have forgotten something and the person at the front desk gives it to me no questions asked so I can start my class without feeling flustered! They trust their customers to come after the class and pay the very small fee without pushing you to do it right then and there. I highly encourage you to come and try a class out for yourself because it's amazing! I hope to...
Read moreI'm a longtime ashtanga yoga practitioner who has also been doing an almost daily Bikram practice for two years. I was in Tucson visiting for a week, and the local studio that does the traditional Bikram sequence was moving locations and was closed. Sumits seemed to be the only hot yoga not using a lot of music, so I went there to try it. I am so glad I did! The studio is beautiful, and they handle the heating just right, getting it challengingly hot, but opening the doors at just the right moment. I loved the sequence, which was a wonderful mix of Bikram and ashtanga postures. It was challenging, but accessible to anyone. I had four different teachers while there, and all were wonderful--engaged and encouraging, attentive to everyone in the room. Best of all, they give you a cold towel with peppermint oil on it and the end for sivasana--heaven!!It was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend this studio to anyone, beginning yogis through...
