My goal in writing this review is to bring to light some concerns I have witnessed and experienced over the 3+ years of attending EastSide now known as TLC. I first want to say that Pastor Peter Kraft has Biblical sound sermons that support the word of God. The church has many wonderful Godly people that attend Trinity Life Church (TLC) and my vision is to see the church flourish with talent and outreaches that help change lives through the gospel.
TLC has a lack of Pastoral staff. Pastor Kraft is the only member on staff as a Pastor and refuses to seek an associate pastor, College pastor, small groups pastor, music pastor, or any additional laymen help. He uses COVID and ministers leaving the ministry as a reason. His wife Sheila Kraft runs the youth/women's ministry alone. Whenever there is a guest preacher, they come from out of town and are easily sent home after the event. No arts program, nor lay ministry exists at the church. Associate pastors and music directors have consistently been utilized for a short time before they leave abruptly with no farewell. Pastor preaches about doing your part in the body of Christ and "staying in your lane" but that is crushed from the top at TLC. Members have talents, knowledge, abilities along with resources to render but are prohibited from using them. Myself and multiple other individuals have approached pastor about serving in different areas of the church and the answer is always no.
After learning about our spiritual gifts in Sunday School, I scored high on Helps and Hospitality. I went to pastor asking if I could help support other members by making meals for those who are sick, or have have a death in the family and I was told "no." I asked why and the answer took me by surprise. I was told that it's the women's ministry and only women should cook. Men don't belong in the kitchen and then he said.."So, you're one of them"...A bit puzzled, I said "one of them who?" His response was "You're one of those sissy boys"(aka..Fa*t). My heart broke. I spent the prior 2 years mostly at home alone going through a double hip replacement, (I'm 42 btw) a gallbladder removal and found out my pancreas no long functions appropriately where I am not able to absorb nutrients. Pastor Kraft never came to visit, sent maybe 2 texts and 2 calls in the 2+ years. My wife and son would go to church and serve without me most Sundays. I was often looked down upon for not attending Church. Although, I did watch services live streamed when I wasn't in service. I found myself alone, without friends, support or love from my church family. This is why I approached pastor Kraft and asked if I could help because I didn't want anyone to have the same experience as I. I sought to meet with pastor Peter and Sheila with my wife to discuss what was said but he only gave 1 time during the day when my wife was working to meet and said his schedule was too busy to meet.
Pastor Kraft has said multiple times, "If you want to socialize, you can go to the country club. We come here to learn the word of God". Pastor's lack of care for community is evident. I asked pastor Kraft if there would ever be any small groups where we could meet at homes. The answer was "No". Pastor Kraft said we come to church to learn the word of God. Not small groups. He preaches Sunday morning, Sunday evening & Wednesday night. Pastor also has prayer for the men on Saturday afternoons at 6pm. For many, this is the only day they have with their family, but he strongly encourages men to come and pray. My concern is that Pastor will continue to ignore the needs of the church and God's people. In the 3+ years, there hasn't been an outreach for the needy or a mission trip with the youth (urban or abroad). However, the church does support many missionaries and similar ministries. I love the church and it's members. I forgive pastor for his comments but I cannot continue to allow a church become stagnant due to...
Read moreI looked at the lowest reviews and all the highest review's, my experience with this Church is that they are the epitome of self righteousness...with confidence in the sight of God they embody what scripture equates as "filthy rags" you can teach, preach good sound doctrine, as well as a Pharisee knows the law and make a God out of the law and not reflect the God who gave the law but they don't have a microscopic clue as to the intent and divine lesson of the example of Christ in his teaching of the Good Samaritan , if one asks for some water and it's not given how's that a testimony of Charity?...I said all this to state as lost as the ones who gave the lowest reviews it demonstrates that they were at the very least honest and truthful and instead of responding to the great reviews with humility and recognition to God which they were not instead the greatest example of the mind of Christ would of been to respond to those on here that gave the lowest reviews with compassion as to the highest review's those should of only been responded to with "To God be the Glory"...so in closing to God and God alone be...
Read moreI feel guilty reviewing a church as if it was a restaurant or a park, but I felt that it's very important for people to understand what type of church this is.
Here are some things I heard from the pastor during a sermon when I attended Sunday service: "Masks don't prevent the spread of COVID," " Climate change is a lie", "School is indoctrination".
Listen, you are entitled to your (scientifically misled) opinions. However, politics have no place in a church. The church must be free from interference by any political authority.
I am a student attending a private R1 research university. I'm going to graduate with a degree in engineering. I love Jesus Christ. Whether masks prevent COVID or not has nothing to do with Jesus Christ, but it has everything to do with your personal politics. Don't lose focus on what's...
